NPC's GPAs
I read where AZD said that all members have to have a 2.25 to be iniated. Is that true for all sororities or just AZD? And if it is not what is the minimum GPAs for different sororities? Thanks!!!

You need to have a 2.5 to go through the new member process and at my school you need to have a 2.6 to be initiated. I am not sure if this is true of all the chapters.

Many schools and/or individual chapters will set GPAs over and above the minimum required by the national sororities. Every national sorority, I believe, has a minimum GPA required to pledge. I don't think any of these are lower than 2.2.

I had a friend in Delta Gamma and she only needed a 2.0 to get initiated. That is why I was suprised when I found out that I needed a 2.5 for Delta Zeta. I don't know if this is just that one chapter of DG though.

At my university, you have to have a 2.3 GPA to participate in formal recruitment. Chi Omega Nationals requires a 2.0 to initiate.

The requirements of my chapter of Kappa Delta at the University of Pittsburgh in order to pledge are:
3.0 High School GPA for first semester freshman (not usually a problem for most at my school, it's fairly competitive to get in) and a 2.5 collegiate GPA for others. If someone is a little below grades for a definate reason (i.e. took Organic Chem, Calc III, Bio, etc all in one semester) and we really love them it is possible to get special permission from a National Officer to take the grade risk. We usually have one or two of these a rush.
Once you're active, you have to keep at least a 2.1 (i think we're upping it though) to be an active sister and a 2.4 to be on council (also will probably be increasing). Kappa Delta's national standard is a 2.0, but they incourage each chapter to increase it.

You made me look it up in my new member manual
AEPhi requires a 2.0/4.0 GPA.
My chapter requires (IIRC):
- a B average or better from high school if you're a first semester freshman
- 36 units of "pass" credit in the previous semester if you're a second semester freshman or first semester sophomore (freshman year is pass/no record, and a typical subject is 12 units of credit)
- 3.0/5.0 GPA or better, from the previous semester, if you're a second semester sophomore, junior, senior, or transfer.

I know this thread is dated, but I thought I might add my school's GPA requirements:
For rushing alone, one must have a 2.2 GPA minimum.
Sigma Kappa requires a 2.8 for initiation.
XOXO,
Annie.

What happens if a new member misses the GPA requirements for initiation TWICE? Is there a policy on how long someone can be considered a new member? There were a couple of incidents like this in some of the sororities, but I never thought to ask what hapened.

For AZD I believe the minimum is 2.25, but the individual chapter can make their own as long as it's higher than 2.25. I know my chapter usually cut anyone that was below a 2.5 bc you run the risk of taking some members that are way to close to 2.25 and they end up on academic probation.
one of the glo's on my campus cut everyone below a 3.0...granted they always have the highest GPA on campus, but they sometimes cut off their nose to spite their face.

At my chapter you have to have now a 2.3 to be a new member and a 2.5 i believe to initiate. The chapter must have a 2.75 to be in good standing though.
I think our IHQ is going to be raising the GPA's every couple of years untill it is a 3.0...it will be a while til that occurs though

My school, Western Illinois University, requires a 2.5 but my chapter of ASA requires a 3.0 for this fall's rush... we discussed it and decided that it was a reasonable expectation...

At Georgia Southern in the mid-90's (don't know about now) you had to have a 2.5 to go through rush. I don't know what the minimum to be initiated was, but we never had a problem if they met the rush requirement. Our chapter had different rules depending on your standing. Freshman started at 2.5 and it went up from there.
Once you were initiated in order to not have to do study hours, and hold office you had to have at least a 2.65 each quarter.
