Post Alpha Gamma Delta International Headquarters News

So after all the news that seems to be coming out of IHQ, I thought why not have a post about any news that comes from there such as *ahem* EXPANSIONS (or possible ones), stuff going on with the Foundation, LC's/LA's, new programs, stuff that you might not find in the Quarterly (speaking of that when's the next one coming out?) Ill start wiht something.....

Alumnae Dues
Alumnae if you haven't already, please pay if you can the voluntary alumnae dues which is only $30.

Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation
Please donate to the Foundation directly if you can also. The past year the Foundation gave a lot and can use the support of sisters so that it can continue. I am sure any amount will be appreciated even if its $5. Lets continue to help keep all the great Alpha Gam programs going and continue to help out sisters. Both programs are addressed here (duh! as if you didn't know):

Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation
8701 Founders Road
Indianapolis, IN 46268-1392

As far as news about expansions, I can understand why IHQ wants to keep it hush-hush until it really becomes official (to an extent). I found out about the POSSIBILITY of a Chapman colonization by stumbling on the LA Junior Circle Website--really, it was an accident. Those in the know don't withhold information because they want to--usually they're instructed by IHQ to 'not say anything' until the invite is formally accepted by IHQ. They withhold information because THEY HAVE TO. Maria only revealed it to GC after she got the green light from her IHQ contact.

So many things can affect IHQ's presentation at a possible expansion site, and because they can both be positive or negative, IMHO it would probably be safest to keep that information within the presentation team until it becomes official... but then again that's just my opinion.

Great topic, Tonya! Just FYI--I paid my first alumnae dues last month and I encourage all of you to do the same! Trust me, your Alumnae Chapter Treasurers will really appreciate it!

Question

Just out of curiousity, when/how often do you pay alumnae dues? I wish this stuff was explained...all new alums should get a packet saying, "welcome to being an alum...here's what you need to know."

Leslie,

Alumnae dues are paid annually and I'm not sure about other chapters, but ours are due at IRD every year. I believe that IRD is a convenient time because that's when most of the alums get together... The Hawaii Alumnae meeting usually follows IRD so that's the best time for our Treasurer to collect the checks!

Thanks for pointing that out, Sandy! I don't want any of my sisters thinking that somehow I enjoyed keeping the news to myself. If I've learned anything the past few weeks, it is that IC and IHQ has very good reasons for doing things the way they do--although sometimes it seems like a mystery to us.

But, onto other things! I've also paid my alumnae dues at both the International level and the local level. If you want to keep Alpha Gamma Delta strong and competitive, paying your alumnae dues is an easy (and relatively painless) way to do it! Nowadays, $30 is dinner and a movie--so that is pretty cheap for a whole year's worth of dues.

I also recently sent in my pledge for the Campaign for Alpha Gamma Delta. I was able to break it up over 4 years, so I could afford to be more generous than usual. I even got a nice letter from the Foundation and Gale afterwards!

Leslie, you have a great idea about giving graduating seniors an alumna packet! Maybe that is something that IHQ could look into. That could be an excellent project for a local alumnae chapter--doing some sort of an orientation meeting for new alumnas.

Graduating seniors should already be getting alumna packets. An order form is included with the chapter's spring mailing from IHQ every year. They contain info about Rosevines, JC's, and alumnae chapter/clubs (not sure about alumnae dues info). My chapter gives them out at the rededication ceremony at the end of the year. It might be a good idea for local alumnae chapters to suppliment them with more information, though!

We usually give the senior packets out at rededication as well. However, Sandy didn't get hers yet.... That's my bad Over this last year, we had a lot of unexpected "going alums" and then on top of that we moved rededication up by over a month. I didn't get the order in for all of them on time... thus, no packet for Sandy. Sorry, dear. I didn't get mine until about a year after I went alum... guess I'm continuing a Chapter Advisor tradition or something.

So Sandy... there is a senior packet coming your way... but of course... you're so in the know... I think you're doing just fine without it

I just finished writing out my dues checks for the year. Our local dues are $30 a year and the voluntary IHQ dues are $30 a year. $60 a year is a pretty small price to pay for all I gain as an Alpha Gam

Obviously my chapter is out of the loop because we don't get packets or, at least, they aren't giving them out. What is rededication?

I didnt get rededicated and neither did this years seniors (2 but both are staying on for a 5th year) Before the recoloniztion, AB always did rededication, however I dont know if they handed out those alumnae packets. They talked about having a ceremony for me but with all the stuff that was going on we just never got around to it. Then with the two seniors this year, they were going to bring me back and Janna (old Pres who went alum cuz she was transfering and no AGD chapter at Albion College) for it, but didnt happen. They might be waiting to have a normal size senior class. However, I was invited by Panhel to come to their Senior breakfast that they hold for seniors in all the houses, but our "lovely" president at the time never gave me anymore information on it.

I wasnt able to pay the dues last year but I am paying them this year as well as the Alum chapter dues. I am sooo excited about getting involved here!
