Alumnae Associations

Hey all! Siob, I know you're starting up a Vancouver area Alum Association. We had our first meeting of the Philadelphia Alum Association this past weekend, and it was pretty exciting! I'm the new VP. We had 8 women come, but have about 20 interested. What sort of ideas are you using to recruit women? And actives, do you think that having an alumnae come in and talk about the alumnae association would interest girls in continuing D Phi E after college?

Just looking for thoughts

YITS!

Right now our association is pretty laid back - just a means of getting together, catching up, hanging out and doing fun things. Our eventual goal is to establish a chapter.
We had our 1st dinner a few weeks back and it was a lot of fun - we had about 6 sisters there - but I think close to 15 are interested. At this point we don't have any officers, just one sister who is in charge of sending out emails to let people know what is happening, etc. We plan to do at least one event a month. We are also using it as an opportunity to get involved with VAPA (Vancouver Alumnae Panhellenic Association). We also wanted to create something so when actives become new alumnae there will be something structured for them to welcome them to life as alumnae.

Question for those with alum associations - I 've noticed some are labeled with the chapter name and some are just general city/area names - is your group open to all sisters or just those from particular chapters. The VAA is open to all alum of dphie who happen to live in the Lower Mainland (and NW Washington), but at this point I believe just sisters of the Delta Gamma chapter are involved.

Hey guys, I know ours is listed as a region...Linnette was trying to establish one but she couldn't generate a lot of interest. They were trying to get all DPhiE alumnae in the area to join, with I believe the intent to provide support to the 4 chapters in the area. I planned on making it my project, as I know some more recent alum who have the time to make it happen. Which brings me to another subject...did you guys (volunteers) get the email about the Director of Chapter Development thing....I interviewed for it and am waiting to hear back. So who knows...wish me luck.

Also, I know the year they were trying the alum association they offered the seniors who were going alum a free year in the association. I've had some ideas about this stuff....like our NM's have box buddies, I though it would be cool for our Nm and/or sisters to have a sort of pen pal to estalish a connection to a chapter. I had a couple of others but I can't remember them. I'll see what I can think of!

I haven't posted on here in a while... how are you guys??
