hair color
I have blue eyes and very dark brown long hair and kinda pale skin and I'm thinking of getting highlights or dying my hair in a lighter brown. What do you guys think about this or do you have any other suggestions?

I know how tempting it is to want to dye your hair when it is really dark.......but DON'T do it.
Here's why.....you will eventually want to grow out the nasty color and go back to your original color......it will take a very long time!!!
I highlighted my raven black hair in September of 2000.....and I was just able to finish cutting all of the old color out....this month. I tried everything to get rid of those damn highlights, I used colored mousse, I dyed over all of those highlights......but to no avail. The colored mousse washes out after one shampoo.....and the color.....well that faded from the black that I put in there to a brassy red. YUCK! And like I said I was just able to cut it out this month.
I am now a firm believer that those of us with really dark hair should not attempt highlights or coloring (with the exception of grey hair) and be happy with the beautiful, deep, rich color that we were blessed with.

I had very dark brown hair and for 21 years had never, ever colored my hair. My sister finally convinced me to do highlights for the summer and although I loved it when they were new, I hated all the dying I had to do when I wanted it back to my normal color. It will still leave your hair shades lighter and give you red tones.
If you don't mind months of growing out your roots or dying your hair for the rest of your life, go for it...but just remember that your hair will never be the same!

I was born blonde then went medium-dark brown - I started putting blonde highlights in my hair and loved it. I am now dying my hair blonde and have been for about 5 years now. I've tried going back to dark and I hate it - my skin is so pale most of the year and even though I have naturally dark hair it just washes me out.

I have naturally dark, dark brown, almost-black hair and pale, pale skin (I am dark irish). I am always the whitest one in any picture and generally just look ridiculously pasty.
In September I started dyeing my hair a golden brown. Its kind of a pain to keep up because my hair grows like a weed so I have to go back and get it touched up every month or so! However, it makes me look a lot less pasty and it looks GREAT in pictures - shiny and light-catching, which my hair never was when it was black!
