Well... I can UNDERSTAND the CONCEPT of the game, but I'm trying to figure out the NEED for having the game. I really don't know what to say.

Okay here goes, for most black american men these are some real choices. I don't see us rushing out to buy the game, because we live it; either our man, brother or son or some other mother's son. However, it would make a great teaching tool in a diversity class. Remember white people have not idea about what it feels like to be in the non ruling class. This game might also work like the activity created by a socialogist, that seperated blue eyed people from brown eyed folks to demonstrate how it felt to be discriminated against. Then again, the game could be used with black boys to show them what some of their life choices could get them. And yes I know that there some young men who will point out that they can make more money on the street than I do as a teacher. But, I also tell them that my life expectancy is greater then theirs. Oh well, if nothing more this game has given us something else to talk about and just maybe that was the real point.
That's my22 cents

The creator of this show was on Tavis Smiley's NPS show on Friday. The show definately sounds interesting. When someone lands on the crime square they have a choice. Of course there are some cards where the person gets away with the b=crime, but more often than not, crime does not pay. There is also the option of "going to church" at any point in the game where folks will pray for you and may even take up a benevelence (sp?) fund for you! The game was well thought out and I think it could be a great discussion starter.

Thanks Soror Indigo1913. You hit the nail right on the head (so to speak). I agree that I could not see the significance in African-Americans actually needing or buying the game. But I could CERTAINLY understand this game being used as a tool to EDUCATE and give non-African-Americans more insight about what it's like to be African-American. So I guess that this game has POTENTIAL, right?

Wink I thought we had had this as a topic

I can see the value in this game for those who work with young men as a tool to show them the importance of making the right decisions in life. This game, if "played" right, could keep some of our youbg men away from negative influences if this game is coupled with the presence of strong, influential people in his or her life as well keeping that young person involved in activities that foster growth. IMO
