Why hate when you don't understand

I read everyday about someone who is non greek who hate on greeks org. I myself am not greek (atleast right now) but some of my closest friends are and you have to look at individuals instead of people as a whole. just like anything else theres always gonna be one person to mess it up for everyone else but you can't just go on that. Grow up and be open minded

I feel ya on that one Harlemgirl. I am interested in pledging a sorority myself, and there have been some people who take advantage of being Greek and that makes the whole Greek system look bad. But you have to look past that.

I personally think that some people go too far with their Letters. I was at a party at DePaul University in Chicago. It was a party to celebrate Skee-Week for the AKAs. A fight broke out. The AKA Gammi Chi chapter of Northwestern University and the AKA Beta Chapter (which is a city-wide chapter) were fighting because an AKA from one chapter cut the line of the other chapter as they were doing their stroll. It was ridiculous!!! AKAs fighting AKAs. What happened to sisterhood??????

It is true that you must look at people for what they are, but when you put on those Greek Letters, be it AKA, DST, SGRho......you are representing that organization as well as yourself and therefore must behave accordingly. People sometimes forget/ignore the principles upon which their organization was founded and it does make the entire sorority/fratenity look bad.

People like myself can look past those type of actions, but others who aren't as open-minded may frown upon the entire Greek Letter Organization.

THATS ALL I WAS SAYING JCAMILLE! THEY DELETED MY POST AND JUMPED ALL OVER ME LIKE I SAID SOMETHING WRONG. ONE PERSON POSTED THAT "THEY ARE JUST PEOPLE LIKE ANYONE ELSE" THIS I KNOW, BUT WHEN YOU BECOME GREEK AND WEAR YOUR NALIA YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO REPRESENT! IF YOU ACTING A FOOL WEARING PINK AND GREEN OR BLUE AND WHITE OR WHATEVER THEN SOMEONE IS GOING TO LOOK AT YOU AND SAY LOOK HOW THEM AKAS ARE ACTING. I MEAN ONE WOULD SAY THAT BEFORE THEY EVEN CALL THE PEOPLE BY NAME. I WISH I COULD BE AS UNDERSTANDING AS YOU JCAMILLE BUT I HAVE SEEN TOO MUCH GO DOWN BETWEEN GREEKS. I KNOW THEY CLAIM ONE PERSON IS NOT THE WHOLE ORG BUT......ONE PERSON IS REPRESENTING THE WHOLE ORG. MAYBE IF SOME CHAPTERS WERE A LITTLE MORE CAREFUL ABOUT WHO THEY BRING IN, THEN BAD THINGS WOULD DIMINSH. IF YOU ARE WANTING TO BE IN A CERTAIN SORORITY OR FRATERNITY AND YOU GO TO A PARTY AND YOU SEE THEM FIGHTING EACH OTHER WHAT ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO THINK? MOST PEOPLE KNOW DAM WELL YOU WOULD THINK TWICE BEFORE PLEDGING THAT ORG. FOR SOME LIKE MYSELF IF YOU SEE ENUFF OF THAT TYPE OF BEHAVIOR AND THEN SOME, YOU WOULD SAY TO HELL WITH ALL OF IT TOGETHER. I MEAN COME ON I DO NOT CARE HOW MANY ORGS. OR NON-GREEKS DEFEND THEM SHIT LIKE THAT DOES NOT LOOK GOOD. I WOULD THINK FOR PUBLIC SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS BEHAVIOR LIKE JCAMILLE AND I HAVE WITNESSED WOULD BE TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE.

Like I stated in another thread, I really do not understand why those not interested/disenchanted/disgusted by greek lettered organizations CONTINUE to frequent a site whose express purpose is to provide a forum for those interested/engaged/enthusiastic about said organizations.

Why waste time going to someone else's house and then trying to tell them off? What purpose does it serve? No need to answer these questions, for they are rhetorical, intended to disuade the overall negativity I see connected to many threads, especially those about our beloved BGLOs.

To my fellow greeks and interested parties: please do not continue to respond to these negative, divisive threads. Your responses only serve as gasoline to a pile of garbage on fire.

I think people just find it easier to believe a stereotype than to actually do some work and find out what greek life is really like. I wish people took the time to do some research before they go on a bashing fest. Props to you Harlemgirl for not being swayed by the negativity.
