Question Sigma Tau Delta?

I saw a girl on campus with a Sigma Tau Delta shirt. This can't be a real sorority (STD?). Has anyone else seen a parody shirt like this?

Nah, it's real

Actually, Sigma Tau Delta is a Greek-lettered honor society for English majors. We have a chapter here at ECU.

We have Sigma Tau Delta at my university too, but none of our honor sociey members wear their letters around campus.

Are you sure it wasn't Sigma Delta Tau? That's an NPC sorority in case you didn't know.

Talking

Even if it was SDT, there really really is for sure a Sigma Tau Delta I got a letter of eligibility from them once (haven't joined yet tho) and the girl that wrote it had a good sense of humor about thier name. She was like... now for the first STD joke.. it's the first one you'd want to write home about! eesh... I'm not sure why those letters or how long they've been around, but maybe before the acronym for sexually transmitted diseases became well-known I would guess!

And I have also never seen somebody actually wearing their STD letters on campus... heh

The term "STD" for VD has only been around since the mid-80s, whereas Sigma Tau Delta has been around since the 1920s.

Visit their website at http://www.english.org/.

Still, we STDs made a lot of jokes at our own expense!

The PC term is STI, sexually transmitted infection. Not all STIs are actually "diseases" thus the name change.

It's traditional at my school to put up a huge poster when a new member class pledges or is initiated - example: "Alpha Epsilon Phi welcomes our new sisters" followed by their names.

One day I saw a poster that some idiots had hung, reading "Sigma Tau Delta welcomes our new sisters" followed by a list of names that were plays on the names of sexually transmitted diseases. Yuck. Next day, the poster was gone, thank goodness...

We did not have Sigma Delta Tau on campus, but one of my sorority sisters has a bio sister who's a member of SDT, and she gets STD jokes all the time. She also gets idiots asking her why she's wearing a sweatshirt that says "EAT"
