FOX network sinking to a new low
Posted on Thu, Feb. 28, 2002 from the Wichita Eagle
Fox decides 'Battle of the Bad Girls' is a good idea
NEW YORK - Tonya and Amy are getting ready to rumble.
The pugilistic divas will face off on "Celebrity Boxing," a Fox special scheduled to air March 13. The network is billing the bout between Tonya Harding and Amy Fisher as "the battle of the bad girls."
Also on the special, former "Brady Bunch" star Barry Williams will be pitted against Danny Bonaduce, once part of TV's "Partridge Family."
The network said the fights will be real, each lasting three rounds.
Harding gained notoriety when, in January 1994, the figure-skating champ was involved in a bungled plot hatched by her ex-husband to disable her rival Nancy Kerrigan. Kerrigan took the silver medal while Harding, who finished eighth in the Winter Olympics, later pleaded guilty to conspiracy.
Fisher made headlines as "the Long Island Lolita" when, as a teen-ager having an affair with auto mechanic Joey Buttafuoco, she shot and wounded his wife in 1992. Fisher served almost seven years in prison.
A third celebrity-boxing pairing has yet to be announced, Fox said

Come now, do you really expect tasteful, intelligent TV programming from FOX? After all, that's the network that brought us Married With Children, Temptation Island and who could forget icky Ricky Rockwell marrying diggin' Darva Conger?

Heyyy!
Married With Children was funny!
But FOX is ridiculous! Did anyone see the whole "who wants to be a princess" thing????? AWFUL! It was just bad. That was the worst to me, that they would do that especially after "who wants to marry a millionaire". The Prince was this 5' troll and I was LMAO at the blatant gold digging of it all!

I didn't find MWC funny; I was more of an "In Living Color" gal.
I didn't see the princess thing, but the millionaire show had me dying, because icky Ricky is from San Diego and I remember when he appeared on a cheesy TV show in the 1980s.

Re: Re: Re: FOX network sinking to a new low
uggh, you watched that nasty mess too? And they have the nerve to be a real organization... the International Federation of Competitive Eating ( http://ifoce.com/). Fox is just stank sometimes. They used to be okay back in the day, but now, just STANK.
Fox is appealing to a crowd that actually thinks stuff like this is cool. This show will sink them to the depths of baffonery (is that even a word?) and folks will look to them only for programming that is werid, stupid, and childish.

UPDATE...AMY FISHER IS REPLACED WITH PAULA JONES
Paula Jones replaces Fisher in 'Celebrity Boxing'
March 4, 2002 Posted: 9:10 AM EST (1410 GMT)
LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Amy Fisher is out and Paula Jones is in as Tonya Harding's "Celebrity Boxing" opponent, Fox announced Saturday.
Network spokesman Joe Earley declined to comment on why the "Long Island Lolita" is being replaced by one of former President Clinton's earliest accusers.
"Paula is eager to participate in the special, which certainly will make for a lively match against Tonya," Earley said. The program will air March 13.
Jones, who lives in Cabot, Arkansas, told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette she's not concerned about the notorious skater. Her only fear: the safety of her new nose job.
"Of course, that's my first concern as a woman, messing my face up," she said. "I just got my nose done, and I don't want to mess it up."
Jones filed a lawsuit against Clinton, claiming he made an unwelcome sexual advance in 1991 in a Little Rock hotel room while he was Arkansas governor and she was a state employee. A federal judge dismissed the lawsuit.
Fisher made headlines as "the Long Island Lolita" when, as a teen-ager having an affair with auto mechanic Joey Buttafuoco, she shot and wounded his wife in 1992. Fisher served almost seven years in prison.
A third celebrity-boxing pairing has yet to be announced, Fox said.

Even worse
Well, Jim Rome just reported that alleged rapper Robert Van Winkle, w.k.a. Vanilla Ice, was going to participate in this boxing travesty. I suggest icky Ricky Rockwell as his opponent.
Update: Todd Bridges will box Vanilla Ice.
