Dance Marathon
IowaHawkeye-
Yay for Dance Marathon! I was involved all 4 years of my undergrad, and served as an assistant director my senior year. What a great experience. Have a good time at UW, and let me know how Iowa's DM goes!!!

I don't know anything about Madison's greek system, except that I'd love to hear about it (a lot of my friends from high school ended up there -- I went to high school for a few years in Wayzata, Minnesota.)
Anyone? Anyone?

All I know is that Wisconsin is a big party school. The image also imprint into the Greek System there (correct me if I'm wrong).
I visited our Charge there once, the Greek houses are along one of the lake. Really beautiful site.

Apparently UW has a surprise guest every year at theirs - this year, its Mike "the miz" from Real World- NY. Ohh yeah, you better believe i'm meeting him!
What school did you go to?

DM
IowaHawkeye-
I graduated from Bowling Green, home of the nation's 3rd or 4th largest Dance Marathon, depending on who you ask It's a crazy great time. I've traveled to DMs at U of Dayton, U of Michigan (both of which we helped when they were organizing), Penn State, and IU. When is Iowa's?

You're a Phi Mu and you don't know what Dance Marathon is? Although I suppose that makes sense, if you don't have one at your school.
Correct me if y'all are talking about some OTHER Dance Marathon, but the Dance Marathon we have here (and at several other NC schools) is to benefit Children's Miracle Network. Basically it's a 24 hour dance-party-athon type thing. You get pledges, like any other -thon fundraiser, and then you stand for the entire 24 hours. In our chapter, we say, "Remember, you're standing because there are kids who can't." Anyway, it's a BIG deal. Obviously, Phi Mus are very involved with Dance Marathon, but most clubs/organizations on our campus participate. Ours is in April and we've already started planning!
Here is the official site Dance Marathon

Yep, CarolinaCutie pretty much hit it...
Dance marathons are usually 24/36/or 48 hour all campus philanthropy. No sitting, sleeping, caffeine of any kind. Pure adreneline and the idea that youre giving up a day of your life for the hope these children have a better tomorrow is supposed to drive you.
It's a HUGE deal here too. We have over 1300 dancers who are each required (at ours) to raise $450 and last year we raised $519,000 (the most of any CMN-affiliated DM )
It's truly an awesome cause. The Sigma Chis and Phi Kapps here always get way into it b/c CMN is their philanthropy!
