Big/Lil Gift Ideas

I'm looking for some original gifts to make/buy for next year when I am a Big! I'm already excited and want to start looking for and making things that I can just personalize when the time comes. I got all of the standard things...lapboard, blanket, picture board, pillows, stuffed mascot.....I want to find things for my Little that none of her pledge sisters will have.

Ooooh! I love making stuff! There's loads you can do, too...my favorite things were buying a glass box or vase at Wal-Mart (they're really cheap--get them in the crafts section) and drawing a design on them with paint pens. You can put the letters of your sorority or your mascot on it, or whatever you want. Then, you can fill it with candy or other small gifts, and it looks really cute! Another idea I like is making t-shirts...buy a plain one and then get some of those iron-on letters so you can put on it whatever you want. Some of my sisters made matching ones for themselves and their littles. You could also make a paddle...some places sell plain ones and then you can buy wooden letters/crests to glue onto it. I know the ones you order look more "professional," but if you make it you can really get creative and your little will definitely have something that no one else has!

In my chapter, the new members always make a creed ( a copy of our creed made up all pretty and framed) for an older member who she is close to. One of the girls in my chapter didn't understand the directions and took the letters d-e-l-t-a z-e-t-a and made her own personal creed to me. She put it on a pillowcase and it was so unique and touching. You could do something like this for your little. The one my sister made me is

E- Enchanted by your grace
T- Trustworthy
A- Always beside you in the light of the flame
