Did you kids see the posting on the National website saying AXD was selected for expansion at Wingate University? I don't know a lot about the school but they have four fraternities and two sororities, Chi O and Tri-Sigma. Very cool!

Oh... yipppee ... HQ must have just posted this (in fact it has tomorrow's date) ... I was just in the news section not an hour ago and this wasn't there.

I had seen where we were presenting ... glad we got chosen..

Colonization is quick... starts on Sunday....

Wingate University is not too far from Charlotte, probably 45 minutes away. I’m sure the Charlotte Alumnae Chapter will be helping out with the colonization process. I’m very excited about this. I live in North Carolina so it is great to have another chapter located here, but I’ am 2 ½ hours away in Fayetteville. I am hoping to make some of the activities in the colonization, if not probably the installation. I attended the installation of Elon College and assisted with the process at NC State. I am a member of the Zeta Mu Chapter at Methodist College, which is now dormant.

Wingate University has around 1300 students and is located in a small town. The sororities are active and very noticeable. I believe the chapters have around 50 members each.

Alpha Xi Delta welcomes our newest sisters at Wingate University! On Thursday, February 28, 36 women were pledged at Wingate University to become the Fraternity's newest colony. Sisters from the Zeta Chi Chapter at UNC-Wilmington, Theta Nu Chapter at Elon University and Zeta Tau Chapter at UNC-Asheville assisted with the pledging at Wingate. The Fraternity is honored to welcome this dynamic group of women involved in many areas of campus life including several athletic teams, the student newspaper and student government

The young women of the Wingate Colony are great and full of enthusiasm. They have a lot of energy.

It had been a long time since I attended a pledging ceremony (I graduated in ’82). It was a very moving ceremony and brought back a lot of memories. There were quite a few alums from around the area and beyond. A great advantage to the colony is that a member of the staff at Wingate University is Alpha Xi alum.

The greek community was very supportive with the greek advisors and representatives of the 2 other sororities and the fraternities in attendance at the reception.

I just want to say how excited I was to see ya'll talking about our colony. I am one of the 36 girls at Wingate who saw what we were looking for in AXiD. We are all so excited about this experience.

When I was at Wingate University on Saturday for a Quiz Bowl tournament, I had the honor of meeting two of the new colony members. Both ladies were extremely friendly and outgoing. I talked with one of them for almost 30 minutes. She told me how she came to join the colony, and how special it makes her feel.

Since I will be volunteering with the theatre there, I will be on campus frequently. One of them is involved in the theatre there. Hopefully I will continue to hear great things about this group. I see a great future for these ladies.

I also gave one of them the address to Greekchat, and invited her to join us here. Hopefully, we will see her here soon.

Congratulations on a wonderful new group!!!!!!

Alpha Xi Delta National Council proudly announces the installation of Iota Zeta Chapter at Wingate University on Saturday, September 14, 2002. It is customary for all National officers and volunteers, college chapters and alumnae associations, and any individuals who wish, to send congratulatory messages to the new chapter recognizing its installation. We welcome you to send your congratulatory message to: Alpha Xi Delta; Wingate University; Campus Box 1652; Wingate, NC 28174.

The Installation ceremony will begin at 10:15 a.m. and noon luncheon will follow. All sisters are welcome to attend. If you plan to attend any installation activities, registration is required by September 3, 2002. Contact fraternity headquarters for registration information.

I'm going to be there. It's working out that I have a business trip to Winston-Salem (okay, so I sort of planned it that way) the week before and my Alpha Xi Delta little sister and best friend's sister is getting married in North Carolina that weekend, too - so, I'll be very busy - but I will be there.

AlphaXiGirl, I will be there also. When you see a 7 months pregnant woman-that will be me. By the way, Zeta Mu recolonization starts Sunday. Everybody keep your fingers cross.
