Oh sweetie- I'm so sorry to hear that.
Do you have a friend you can ask? Sometimes the best date has been right under your nose the whole time.
Bottom line... she missed out!!

I'm sorry to hear that hun. I can relate though. We were having our winter formal and I have this big crush on a guy in Pi Kappa Alpha, so I asked him if he wanted to go, he said yes. I was soo psyched and ready to go have some fun! But then like 3 days before formal he writes me an e mail, doesn't call, doesn't say it to my face...E MAIL! that he couldn't get off work! UGH! =( I was sad. So now, I have a few more crushes, so they better be prepared for our crush party coming up soon =) Feel better though, rejection hurts i know!

It is better to get an honest answer of rejection then to be strung along. Count your blessings.

Cory - is this girl crazy? Seriously, i have no idea what she's thinking, youre such a sweetheart not to mention so damn cute
It really is her loss, i'm sure you would have been such a fun date - there has to be a few more crushes out there - don't let this rejection get you down, go out there and ask someone else!

Sometimes there's just no accounting for taste! Find a "humdinger" (gee, I never thoght how that sounded) and have a blast!
My daughter is already singing the blues because she has NO ONE she wants to ask to her formal. Poor thing compares eveyone to this New Yorker she shared a summer romance with. Anytime she says she thinks some guy is cute, they have a girlfriend. Her guy friends have girlfriends and she doesn't want to go with someone she doesn't really know. Saaaay, what are YOU doing this April! J/J
Find someone who will get wild and crazy and have a GREAT time!
I would imagine there are plenty of young women who would give their heart to you if they had the chance.

Aww, Cory, I agree with all the posters who have given you such wise advice. She really doesn't know who she's missing out on! You are such an adorable sweetie...and well, if she can't see that, she doesn't deserve you anyhow.
I know this all sounds like such a cliche, but it really IS true, Cory. I hope you feel better soon, sweetie...and don't stop being the charmer you are!

I'll echo what everyone else says--she's probably certifiably nuts.
But hey, just because you ARE dating someone doesn't mean there are any guarantees...my boyfriend stood me up for my last formal (well, he kinda had to, but...) and didn't call and tell me he couldn't come until thirty minutes AFTER he was supposed to pick me up! My roommate was sweet enough to go with me, but the night was still crappy, especially after one of my sisters spilled hooch all down the front of my beautiful dress...*sniff sniff*

That is Horrible!!! The girl must have no taste at all to turn you down But I am sure that there is another girl out there that is much smarter and more fun to take to a formal
I have to ask some one to my formal on March 22, and I am not so much looking forward to it....

Cory, I just PMed you.
Sweetheart, listen to me... you didn't get rejected. She has just had a lapse in judgement or is too intimidated by your gorgeous, witty, and intelligent self. And look at it in the big picture. For every girl that "rejects"you, there are at least 50 more that are dying to get the chance to even get close to you! So keep your head up and maybe you will end up with a date that is five times better.

Hey girls,
Thanks for your comforting words of pick-me-up, it helps. Too bad you all live so damn far away! For of the 50 of you that would have said yes, I would have surely found 75 to ask. I do appreciate it nevertheless, and I'm sure some friend might enjoy my company. There are others I know I can ask, I'd just prefer the one that said 'no.'

Now, you wouldn't *really* prefer the one who said no -- think about it. This is a woman who did not want to go out with a cute, smart, funny guy who actually *reads* books and I'm sure knows how to carry on an interesting conversation. I don't think that you would really prefer to be with someone like that -- you might think so right now because you're feeling bad, but it will pass. Once a little time has passed, you won't even think about it.

Ah, I know the feeling. Wanna join my broken hearts club? The best thing I can tell you is that it will make for some good writing, because I think I remember you being a writer.
