In Memory of Lisa Frank......
I am an Alumna of the Epsilon Xi Chapter of Delta Phi Epsilon at SUNY Oswego in Oswego, NY. I am also the Chapter Advisor. Approximately 11yrs. ago we lost our dear Sister, Lisa Frank to Leukemia. As I was informed, attempts to find her a Bone Marrow match for a transplant failed. Sisters continue to greive her loss today. As tradition has it, at the end of each Chapter meeting we close with "In Memory of Lisa Frank.....Pray For Us". Next Spring (2002) the Epsilon Xi Chapter of DPhiE will be hosting a Blood Drive to honor the life of Lisa Frank and to commemorate the 11yr. Anniversary since her passing. The purpose of the blood drive is to collect blood samples to be submitted to a National Bone Marrow Registry. Once submitted, DNA will be tested to find potential bone marrow matches for individuals in need of a Bone Marrow Transplant. The efforts to organize this event are tremendous and includes an awesome amount of fundraising. The cost of the event is $75-80/donor. What I would like to know is if other chapters have sponsored a similar event and how did you go about raising funds? I would also be interested in hearing creative and effective fundraising ideas in general that may help us raise the funds needed to make this event successful. Thank you and God Bless!

Have you Contacted you Greek Organization and see if they are interested in doing soming thing like tis in memoriam for a lost member?
The chapter can also do fund raising for a specific fund raiser that while means nothing to other people may actually mean a great deal to them. As you know, the common ordinary people will really give to a cause such as this!
There was a young boy in the KC Ks area and it was on National news, but his lungs could not grow because of a spine problem. He got enuff money to do the first surgery, but has to have maney, and I have no doubt that he will get the money from the biggest hearted people in the world, Americans!
Good luck in your endevor and hope all the very best!

Thank you to those who responded to me. To answer your questions...no, there is no relation between the Lisa Frank I'm speaking of and the stationary. And to answer Tom's question, contacting my National Organization is definitely on my list. That was a great suggestion. Please keep them coming. Thanks again!

I'm quite sure that our national HQ would be happy to help you in any way possible. I am a D Phi E as well. There are many chapters in your area, so call on them for their help as well. That's one of the benefits of being in an international sorority. You can contact the national HQ to get presidents information for the chapters in your area.
