U Mich, Columbia, U Chicago, USC, UTexAustin, UCLA RUSH

Interested in sororities at these campuses: who is who? Highest GPA, top houses (ie., hardest to get into), jocks, most fun, biggest partiers.

First off, if you want academic info. or just general info. those schools greek life webpages should be able to help.

All that other stuff made me laugh. that is exactly what you DON'T SAY to members of greek organizations. Those questions are reasons why they cut you.

Unfortunately, until Revenge of the Nerds 1,2,3.... have been eliminated off the video store shelves... this is the image many people in highschool will have of greek life.

cyradaria- groups are different at every school. Especially going from a East Coast school all the way to California.

If I may ask- are you picking your college based on the greek organizations there or just investigating ahead of time?

Good luck with your choices!

Sue

OK I can give you some of the infor you wanted about umich but not all....
As far as best grades go....... sororities average 3.26 to a non-greek women's 3.10. We're all smart. We do get to know who is has the best average as a house, but you will only be told if you join.
ALL the houses are hard to get into. There never is an easy one. We want girls but we're not desperate, ya know.
Most fun, depends in what you're looking for. All the houses are fun in their own ways....we all know how to party too.
Pretty much every sorority at UM has members of athletic teams ranging from Varsity to club and IM teams.

Sororities at UM
NPC
Alpha Chi Omega
Alpha Delta Pi
Alpha Epsilon Phi
Alpha Gamma Delta (woohoo!)
Alpha Phi
Chi Omega
Delta Delta Delta
Delta Gamma
Delta Phi Epsilon
Gamma Phi Beta
Kappa Alpha Theta
Kappa Kappa Gamma
Pi Beta Phi
Sigma Delta Tau
Sigma Kappa
BGA
Alpha Gamma Psi (Local)
Delta Sigma Theta
Sigma Gamma Rho
Zeta Phi Beta
Alpha Kappa Alpha (think they are coming back next year)
MGC
Alpha Kappa Delta Phi
Lambda Theta Alpha
Sigma Lambda Gamma
Zeta Sigma Chi

Im sure we have a ton more too.
But like someone said, looking for those traits isnt going to good for you going into rush. And UM is very competitive. Just have fun with it. Go here if you want more info on them UM Office of Greek Life

Who has the highest GPA at USC and UCLA depends upon the semester. USC's grades were supposed to be available last week but I don't have a copy yet. If you call the Office of Residential and Greek Life they should be able to help you. Their number is (213)740-2080.

The groups at UCLA follow:

Alpha Delta Pi
Alpha Epsilon Phi
Alpha Phi
Gamma Phi Beta
Delta Gamma
Delta Delta Delta
Kappa Alpha Theta
Kappa Delta
Kappa Kappa Gamma
Pi Beta Phi
Chi Omega

The phone number of the Office of Greek Life at UCLA is (310) 825-6322. I am not certain when grades from last quarter will be available.

Hope that helps.

IMO Any question you feel you need to ask is a good one. IF they dont want you for asking a question then its probally not the place for you anyway.

UChicago

Only three sororities in Chicago for you:
Kappa Alpha Theta
Alpha Omicron Pi
Delta Gamma

They will hold a formal rush when you get here where you learn about each sorority and where you fit in. It's really not about reputations, since all three are mixed but about your fit with the sisters. It's also a top school so everyone here has great grades. As for partying, none have a reputation for being party animals but each has their own events, fundraisers, events with fraternities, charity events, etc.

I would say that they each have between 40-50 girls, except DG is only a couple years old on our chapter and may have less. If you don't do formal rush but hangout with certain sisters they may give you an open bid later on in the year.

Here are some webpages:

Understand that its not a matter of asking questions, but its just that you dont want to someone to go into rush looking for the party girl sorority, or cutest sorority etc. It labels not only labels, but how is that person than going to feel if they dont get into that org., and have dimissed others because they only looked at the party girls. Our thing is go in looking at all and then decide.
