Cool Multiple Rushes?

Hi guys, as some of you know I just finished my second unsuccessful rush... I did formnal rush in the fall, ended up suiciding, and didn't recieve a bid... the same thing happened this spring, I ended up suiciding again and not receiving a bid. At first I was totally against rushing again, and I still feel that way because it's just too much rejection for a girl to take, but others on this board have said that they've rushed more than once and ended up in a house where they love it... i was just wondering if any of you guys have any "inspirational" stories for me about rushing multiple times (with a happy ending)?

Well, I did two informal rushes (the difference with me was it was two different schools). After some dirty rushing the second time, I was not going to do it. I took a deep breath and did formal the next fall. I ended up in ZTA and just got done sending my weekly email to my pledge sisters.

There was a girl at Auburn who wanted a certain sorority and nothing else. Very often this turns out badly but the third time she went through formal rush, she got a bid from them! In the meantime, she had made sure that her gradepoint was high and her activities looked good. The weird thing was that her sister rushed a couple of years later, pledged that group, and depledged within a month.

I rushed twice. The first time I didn't like my results, was taken up with cheerleading, and knew I'd be transferring at the end of the year anyway so I dropped out. I was worried about my chances because I was a junior transfer (back then my first school didn't allow you to rush until sophomore year), but everything tuned out fine. The main thing is, you have to make yourself really look good the second time around so they'll see what a jewel they missed out on the year before! And make sure you get to know women in every group, too.

Exclamation please don't suicide rush...

I'm completely with AngelPhiSig. Suicide rushing is one of the worst things a girl can do (in my book anyway). Please don't take this the wrong way, but I really feel like suiciding is a bad decision. I've seen too many girls get their hopes up for one particular group, only to see them heartbroken on Bid Day. And, honestly, it was partly their own fault because they made the decision to suicide. If they hadn't, then the majority of them would have had a sorority house to call home at the end of Rush.

Don't get me wrong... I know that some houses are just NOT for you, and I'm not saying that you should accept a bid from a "bad" house just to be Greek. But surely there is more than one good house on campus that you would be happy joining.

The way that I look at it, if you rush with an open mind and give all of the sororities a chance to offer you a bid, then you have less chance of heartbreak. That way, if your first choice doesn't, for whatever reason, extend you a bid, there is still a good chance that another GLO will. And, you may find happiness in a house where you didn't think you would originally. Give the other houses an equal chance, and I really think that your future rush experience will be better than your previous ones. Good luck! And let us know what you decide to do!
