Nick Cannon wanted an honest conversation and appreciated Nugent's honesty. That doesn't make him an Uncle Tom. That makes him someone who initiated a dialogue and therefore is open to different responses to the dialogue. He knows what he's getting himself into when he gets Ted Nugent on the show. He said he doesn't share the same views as Ted Nugent.

I think Ted Nugent is an idiot but I appreciate idiots who call it like they see it. I'd rather know to stay the hell away from an idiot than have idiots smiling in my face while doing dumb things behind my back. Ted Nugent claims to be anti-racist but his viewpoints are quite white privileged and prejudiced. We are supposed to marvel because Ted Nugent praises Black Americans' musical genius and boasts about playing Muddy Waters? Kiss my ass, Ted Nugent.

Drphil. What exactly do you disagree with in the statements made by Nugent in this interview with Nick? (Not bothering with stuff he's said in the past....yet), and what exactly do you mean his viewpoints are white privileged?

(1) Nick Cannon wasn't up dude's ass. Cannon is a goofy guy and he was probably trying to lighten the mood in preparation for what Nugent will say. It is all a political game. Have you ever hosted an event and people recommended you find a way to introduce the topic and create an open environment in which different opinions can be shared? Nick Cannon could personally hate Nugent but professional has to outweigh the personal. Cannon is not like other radio show hosts who have been in the radio game long enough to pick and choose his guests and even make guests feel unwelcome. Tom Joyner, for example, is a host who either would not have had Nugent on his show or would have found a way to clown Nugent.

(2) Not if you wanted to keep your show. White people are probably a large part of Cannon's show in terms of behind the scenes and the audience. Some of these whites either don't see anything wrong with Nugent's perspective or disagree with Nugent but respect freedom of speech.

I'm curious why you feel this is coming from a white priveleged ideology?
Isn't this sort of thing, a good work ethic, common place among all walks of life?

I didn't look at the politics behind it. I guess Madison has the same benefits.

Not really, I can't stand Limbaugh, but I listen to him and Hannity, and CNN, and Fox News, and Anderson Cooper....

Unlike many people, I keep an open mind and listen to all sides of arguments in order to determine what people's motivations are towards problems.

As how I really feel, I think education is the most important asset any member of society should have first and foremost. Without a proper education it is easier to be taken advantage of.

This. I listened to that whole show. Clearly, he makes the show more about what the guest has to say than about what Cannon himself had to say. I enjoyed the show and am subscribing. I'm not sure Ted Nugent was the very best person to present that side of the issue. Cannon then brought on another guest who presented the other side very eloquently.

As is the case with many GCers. You just take longer to form an opinion...if you ever do...yet you insist on joining these discussions.

Have you educated yourself and answered the questions you asked in this thread?

By the way, for many topics, your time would be better spent worrying about outcome rather than motivation. Motivation is often difficult to prove. Most people are keen enough to punch you in the face and claim they had no idea their hand was capable of forming a fist and punching.

It seems like a cool show. I appreciate a show that is not all about the host.

Ted Nugent is similar to Rush Limbaugh in that he is an extremist on some topics. There is no middle ground for Nugent and Limbaugh. Nugent is not swift enough to see how the very fact that he has to say "we have a Black President...yada yada yada" highlights the fact that such opportunities are still note worthy for nonwhites. President Barack Obama is the first Black President...or a President who is Black...whereas the other Presidents are just...Presidents. Some of us talk about the fact that every other President is a white man but most people do not mention it as though being a white man is the model for awesomeness and race-gender-neutrality.
