Judge Seals File in Sex Abuse Case
A Fulton County judge this week decided to keep sealed a file about a sexual abuse case. Last June, Arthur James Robinson, 65, pleaded guilty to child molestation and aggravated sexual assault in exchange for 10 years of probation. Superior Court Judge Thelma Wyatt Cummings Moore, who took the plea, said Robinson didn't get preferential treatment because he is the husband of Johnnetta Cole, former president of Spelman College. She said the victim's family did not want to put their 12-year-old daughter through the trauma of a trial. The family has requested the court file be sealed. Moore said she is keeping it sealed while lawyers try to determine a way to protect the victim's identity, whom the judge described as still traumatized. Defense lawyer Drew Findling said his client got probation because he contacted the state Division of Family and Children Services and the police after the molestation, made a statement and got into counseling. The district attorney's investigation supported his client's position that the molestation was a one-time act, Findling said

This is terrible, the former president of Spelman College, Johnetta B. Cole's husband molested a ten year old girl. The girl's family didn't want her to go through the publicity of a trial so he did not go to jail. I included the link for anyone that wants to read the story first hand. I feel so sorry for the little girl and I wonder if Dr. Cole is going to leave her husband. What do you ladies think about the idea of standing by your man in a situation like this?
