Re-rushing as a sophomore at the U of Delaware

I went through recruitment last year and did not accept my bid because I did not feel like i fit in with the group of girls. It came down to my favorite sorority (where I felt like i fit in) and one where I did not. Unfortunately, I did not receive the bid i wanted.
So i'm deciding to re-rush this upcoming spring semester during formal recruitment. Will they treat me differently/know I did not accept another bid? Will the sorority that I did not receive a bid from even think about giving me one this year? I'm keeping as much as an open mind as I can. Honestly i'm just wondering what it will be like for me to go through rush again this year…so If anyone has been through it or has any incite i would really appreciate it!!

Many people/rho gammas have told me that they went through rush twice and it really worked out for them the second time. I'm just very nervous and I need some reassurance!

You need to realize that sorority rush is MUTUAL SELECTION. You talk about the bid you wanted and the bid you didn't want. What you seem to be leaving out of the equation is what the members of the sororities wanted.

If you can't wrap your head around that, and around the fact that sometimes the sororities honestly do know better than you where you would fit or not fit, you probably shouldn't re-rush.

Nobody can tell you your chances, and it will depend a lot on why you didn't do as well as you wanted to with rush last year. Possibly you were nervous and just didn't present yourself well. Maybe you just didn't make enough of an impression to stand out when it came time to rank invitations. Or maybe it was something they will clearly remember and not let you off the hook for this time either. You need to have a little sit-down with yourself and determine what really happened and see if there's something you can do to change your outcome this time. If nothing changes, your outcome won't either.

There are 10 chapters at Delaware (soon to be 11). You need to go in open to the idea of any of those 10. Good luck!
