Sorority recruitment at smu?

What is sorority recruitment like at smu and what advice can you give for a pnm to make it a successful recruitment?
also, are there any particular brands of clothing and shoes a pnm should stick to?
oh and as a side question, do you think going to the dallas panhellenic sorority recruitment information forum is beneficial?

any and all advice welcome. thanks

Go to the sorority recruitment info. forum. Most likely, you will meet alumnae who will write you recommendations-something you definitely need at SMU. You will also probably learn what outfits are appropriate for recruitment at SMU, as well as general rush info., and specific info. about SMU.

Polish up your resume' and take it along with you, in case they want you to leave one with the recommendation board.

SMU Panhellenic will tell you that you do not need recs. Do not believe it! Despite what they say, you do need them. So get started on that. And do go to the Dallas Panhellenic meeting. They can probably also give you ideas on getting recs.

Are you a senior in HS? SMU has deffered rush (they just finished mid-January for 2011-2012 recruitment) so you if you are a HS senior, it will be a little less than a year before you go through formal. You 100% need those LOR for SMU. Do you live in Dallas? If yes, then the Dallas Panhellenic is the place to go for your info session. If you live somewhere else, (Houston, San Anotnio, Austin) you would attend that city's info session and those are usually held in the next few months to prepare girls that are going through recruitment in the Fall, but they cover deferred recruitment as well and this Spring session would be the one you would want to go to.

(Again, based on if you are a HS senior) When you get to SMU in the fall, it can be tricky because actives are watching. They are looking for girls who would make wonderful NMs and in my opinion, this mean looking your best as often as possible, trying to make friends with known sorority women, and watching your behavior during Fall semester (ie, drinking). The best chance you have at almost any competitive Texas recruitment (UT, SMU, A & M, the list goes on) is to know someone on the inside. And know them well enough that they will fight for you. Can you go through without knowing anyone? Yes, but your chances are so much better if you know other girls in the house.

Thanks y'all. I went to the Dallas Alumnae Panhellenic Forum today and it was awesome. Aside from learning more about sorority recruitment and them taking us step by step through the recruitment process, I made a few new friends along the way :P
It was great and I have every question I can think of answered already. And hearing ladies speak of their sorority experiences has really made me super super excited about going through recruitment and I'm looking forward to it.

This has made me eager beyond belief.
