Arrests at Texas - San Marcos: Alleged Hazing, etc. (Sigma Nu)
At Texas San Marcos, 20 students (ten male, ten female) have been arrested on Class B misdemeanor charges of hazing or failure to report hazing. The arrests are related to an alleged incident involving Sigma Nu. For details, including names and, where applicable, greek affiliations, of those arrested, see:

Just this week the Houston Chronicle wrote "the University of Texas - San Marcos". I just about died. They did issue a correction.

I remember us having a blurb in our pledge manual, something along the lines of "just as it is against the law for a fraternity or a sorority to haze, it is also against the law for a pledge to allow herself to be hazed." This isn't a new concept.

I knew you'd chime in about that
And I would expect Houston to do better than that. That's almost as bad as saying "UT - College Station" lol

Yea, I've heard about this since I've been in as well.

I think what bothers me the most about this article was the Alum that chimed in while commenting on the article:
" as a former Sig Nu at TxState....Everything a pledge goes through is THEIR OWN decision. If you dont want to participate....you can walk away at ANY time "
Grrrr.

I find it interesting there are a few people who do not list any affiliation. I wonder if the defendants lawyer is going to use that to back up his statement "It was just kids getting together and hanging out,"

A significant point may be whether or not the entire pledge class was involved.

Here's Zeta's response on the incident. Sad that my sisters didn't use their heads realizing that this was wrong.
