Thank You for 31 Years

R.E.M. has decided to end it after 31 years.

Some of my personal favorites:

Fall on Me - the 1st R.E.M. song I ever heard; immediately hooked

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lf6vCjtaV1k&ob=av2e

I am Superman - just love it, no explanation why

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NiQK9...eature=related

Bang and Blame - I can listen to this song 10 times in a row, love the video

Me and Honey - cd version with B52s' Kate Pierson is better, but this is a good live version

I love R.E.M. When I feel depressed, I go to Youtube and watch the video for "Stand." I remember doing that dance to the video. PS what was up with the dancing in the 1980's? Lots of arms and legs swinging about.

Everybody Hurts, indeed.

R.E.M. was definitely part of my high school experience. I remember sitting on the band bus (we were the cool kids, I tell you) heading to away football games, several of us gathered around the spongey-covered headphones, rewinding the tape on the Walkman (over and over!) until we figured out the words to It's The End of the World. Ahh, good times.

It's also one of my all time favorite songs and also can't pinpoint why. The harmonies? The lyrics? The perfection of the whole thing? Don't know, and don't care.
