Photographers at mixers
This kind of relates to the Auburn thread but I didn't want it to get lost. The woman from Auburn who posted said that it was the professional photographer who put the pics on the internet, not the chapter. This is the second incident like this I've heard about it - the other was the sorority boob-flashing incident.
My question is, why in blue blazes would anyone WANT to have a photographer like this at a private party, especially if his contract states he can do whatever with the photos?? The only time we had professional photographers was at pledge pickup (aka bid day), and this was before internet days. Plus I don't think he was allowed to do anything with the pics other than give them to us. I would never have DREAMED of letting photographers in to mixers or formals. Actually, it would have been an infraction if we had let anyone in a mixer other than brothers or sisters.

33,
You are absolutely right -- maybe at a formal it would make more sense. But a Halloween Party?
It also points out yet another reason how really dumb the guys in blackface and robes were.
Those pictures on the web were posed.
Really stupid.

We have photogs at our mixers, and they then post pictures on a site so we can order them. You need a password to access the site, though. I used to work for the company, and if I saw someone doing something inappropriate, I did not take pictures of it. I even made people put their beer down so it wouldn't be in a picture that would later be printed with letters.

care needed
you've got to be so careful to make sure you get photogs with decent reputations and not just a camera, a flash and a website. there is a huge difference.
i've shopped for photogs and done some freelance work myself.
