My Recruitment Story!
So, I’ve decided to write my recruitment story after reading tons of them. First, a little background… at my school recruitment is deferred to sophomore year. This year I will be going through the process as a junior. Last year I went through the first round, but dropped out after that. In some ways I regret that. It was really hard to see all of my friends joining sororities and meeting new people and having a fantastic time. I can’t help but think I should have stuck it out. On the other hand, I had the benefit of meeting a lot of new girls through my friends. I also was able to get a better sense of what Greek Life is at my school. At the time I went through recruitment, I don’t think I was doing it for the right reasons… I was doing it because that’s what most sophomores did and what all of my friends were doing. I realize now that joining a sorority has many, many benefits. I want to make new, lifelong friends. I want that bond. Greek life has already introduced me to so many people, events, and fun times that I want to experience that as an actual member. I can’t express to you how nervous I am. I have spent all summer reading greekchat and planning my outfits. I’ve been overthinking everything! I just can’t wait to get started. AHH!
Ok, so the sororities at my school are
Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Delta Pi, Chi Omega, Delta Gamma, Kappa Alpha Theta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, and Pi Beta Phi
I will refer to them as (not the same as the order above): Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet.
Since I am a junior and have friends in all of the sororities on campus, I know a little bit more than the sophomores that will be going through recruitment with me. Although, I will admit, that as of right now I do have a favorite. However, I am going in with an open mind. HONESTLY! I am not completely sold or turned off by any single sorority. In fact, the normal tent talk that affects the girls here means even less to me because I know people in each and every sorority and they all love their chapters. So I’m super excited!
Tomorrow is Round 1 – Sisterhood. I will be visiting all 7 chapters.
Saturday is Round 2 – Song. I can visit up to 6 chapters.
Sunday is Round 3 – Philanthropy. I can visit up to 4 chapters.
Tuesday is Preferentials. I can visit up to 2 chapters.
Finally, Friday is BID DAY!
I know, how terrible is it that they make us wait from Tuesday to FRIDAY NIGHT. SO EVIL!!
Anyway, I’ll write this live, but post once recruitment is over. Probably. Unless I want moral support. Who knows. We shall see. Well I’ve got classes tomorrow then finally the process begins! AHHH!!!
