^^^It kind of makes me smile a little that you were looking at PMA videos. They are cool guys.

ETA: I don't like it. It sounds......strange to me. But, I LOVE the videos of the chapters that step or have probates!

I like it, if just for the coolness factor. But that's just me.

I agree with you that they are cool guys. I look at PMAS vids because a dear friend of mine is a PMA and he and another brother had serenaded me some years ago singing A Serenade to a Girl. To this day, it's one of my favorite greek songs. Your chorale is also one of my favorites.

Aw, I love it!

FWIW, and if you're interested, you can find a really good recording of A Serenade to a Girl at iTunes. (Only $0.99)

MysticCat, I went to iTunes and listened to the little snippets of the PMA songs... and then proceeded to spend 45 minutes of my skype conversation with my boyfriend simply talking about them. =) He took out his song book and started singing some of the parts as the wonderful tenor he is.

I will admit it. I am SAITrump. Even though I am a brass player and a girl, I am addicted to all male choirs. If they happen to be paired with a brass band... extra points!

As for the SAI Chorale, I spent many a night during last semester watching random YouTube videos of it (best studying I have ever done...). I can never choose just one favorite... Would be far too hard and quite unfair, but I do rather enjoy this video. I just love the variety out there! The spice and spirit of every group!

I think men's singing voices make the most beautiful, most pure sound.

Cool. If I'm not mistaken, what is on iTunes is basically the entire songbook in three volumes/albums.

I'm gonna need SAI to get on top of the iTunes thing.

It would be so much easier for chapters to learn songs that way.

It is like listening to the sound of an organ, it blends so well. And it is right in that mellow range that everyone loves to hear.

That's what he said. He never actually looked at it though. Then I ran into the song for Northwestern (Quaecumque Sunt Vera) and questioned him on that until I found out that apparently a PMA member wrote it or something? Clarification for historical accuracy would be wonderful since neither of us were sure. I love anything history related, and I first ran across a snippet of this song in "Whatsoever Things..." by Mark Camphouse.

I really agree. Not being able to really truly play a piano kinda... hinders my ability to learn vocal music. And it would just be fun to listen to!

That's right. The music is by Haydn, but the arrangement and Latin text are by Peter Christian Lutkin, first dean of the School of Music at Northwestern, who was an initiate both of Iota Chapter (Northwestern) and a national honorary member (Alpha Alpha). The honor society for music students, Pi Kappa Lambda, takes its name from his initials.

FWIW, I think there are a few songs in the book that first got in there because they were associated with particular chapters.

My favorite PMA song I believe isn't in the book... but I remember hearing it a couple times when we were invited to Iota's house (I was in Beta of SAI at Northwestern)

It's an interesting round...

This! I love our songs, and I'd love to hear them done more!
