big/littles
i always wondered, can your big be in the same grade level as you? like for example if one of your friends rushed freshman year then you decide to rush the following year, can a person in your same grade be your big, or its always someone older than you?

Mine was a year behind me; I pledged as a junior.

Every chapter is different, but at my school, yes.
I was a young college student (started at 17.)
Because of that, when I pledged as a 2nd semester sophomore, my Big Sis and I were the same age (19) but she was a year behind me in school (freshman.)

In my chapter, yes. A lot of chapters do big-little differently (some are really structured, with one pledge class being bigs for the ones below them mostly, and others the little pretty much chooses who she wants in the chapter, and im sure others do something else completely different than that too)

Generally it isn't a big deal if someone's big brother/sister is younger/the same age. Remember, they're your big sister/brother in the organization (read:have spent more time in), not in everyday life.

My grandbig is actually younger than her little (although in a higher grade) and only 9 days older than me. That same big is in my grade.

I rushed 1st semester freshman year, and my little rushed 2nd semester freshman year. So we're the same year, and she's a few months older than me.

I joined late, so my big and I are in the same year. It's great -- she's never going to graduate and leave me!

Absolutely. My little AND little little were both in the same class as me, and are both biologically older than me.

One of my pledge sisters pledged as a junior and her big was a sophomore, and a full year younger than her. He grand-big was a junior like her. The next year when she took a little, she took one of the juniors that pledged. So her big and little were in the same class.
