Outer Looks/Inner Beauty or Inner Looks/Outer Beauty: Which are You?
Ever share a bottle or three of wine with your friends and everyone ends up getting all philosophical? That happened to me last night when we were discussing the premise of the movie "Shallow Hal". For those of you who don't know, a man is hypnotized and as a result sees woman as looking the way they do "inside" instead of as the way they look "outside".
That triggered the discussion, "if you looked on the outside the way you were/felt on the inside, would you be more attractive or less attractive than you are now?" or perhaps, "does the way you look on the outside accurately portray your personality inside?"

Good one.
I think I would be a good looking person overall, but there would be some bad acne, or like a wart or two, (ok, or three or four) because I have some serious faults too. A couple of battle scars too, lol.

Well, I was always told that beauty is in the eye of the beholder
That might be why, even though I think I look like Robert Redford, I always close my eyes in the morning when i shave
I think ALL OF THE GCer' KNOW My inner beauty, RIGHT!!!!!!

If you ask me this in the morning, HANDS DOWN, Innerbeauty.
If you ask me this when I'm steppin out, HOT DAMN It's a toss up!
My Hubby is in a medical field so I don't get to discuss philosophy like I LOVE to. He's into science and facts. I love the "what if's".
That is one of the many things that draws me to GC. Young or "mature", male or femal, and yes-black or white add to the mix all the other races and religions...This site is a gift. Everyone here is educated as well as opinionated. The exchange is energizing. If you asked me, the people of GC are so brilliantly beautiful, their inner beauty transends what the physical eye is able to appreciate.

This is a good question.
I would probably be less attractive. Most people think I'm pretty nice, but they have no idea what goes on inside my head. All those ugly thoughts would probably make me pretty ugly.

Those that know me personally would probably say I'm a definite hottie(how I am on the inside). A definite model with the looks of Matt Daemon or Tom Cruise. So.....I would say No to answer your question. I'm a quiet/shy guy and I would say that physically I'm slightly above average in looks. Most girls I think overlook what they see physically with me(at least those that I find attractive). However those that I connect with and actually understand what I'm about see me as being much more than just above average.

Sometimes I feel that people focus too much on looks, perhaps that's why I've had so much trouble in my past relationships. My signficant other might have been more "in love" with my looks, then the person I really am. I feel that sometimes people tend to focus on looks more than what they would want to...but then again..maybe that's just in my experience.
I would be less attractive if my inside was they way I looked like on the outside. I haven't been a happy or nice person lately

How do I look?
Just curious as to how my inner and outer self appear to everyone on Greekchat. I am always interested in other people's perceptions of me. I am not trying to be concieted, but rather I think I am still struggling with issues of trying to find out who I am.
One of my friends told me the other day that in the 4 years she has known me I have never talked bad about anyone and she thought that was awesome. Its nothing new to me, its almost natural. As a grade schooler with glasses and braces, I was what you would call a "dork," I guess. Things have changed, but since then I always try and look for the inner beauty in people. And I think inner beauty reflects in outer beauty, not so much beauty in terms of Hollywood standards, but I think inner beauty instills a radiance or a glow about people.
On the other hand, in relationships, I am first drawn to outer beauty, much of which is defined by media. I like guys with gorgeous blue eyes, nice athletic bodies and a preppy/kickback style. On the same token, outer beauty only takes a guy so far.
About the movie - Shallow Hal -I think it had a good premise but fell short of my expectations. There were to many wisecracks about beauty that weren't very wise. The ending was too easy. But seeing Jason Alexander wag his tail was all worth it!
Thats my take, well an abbreviated take, on beauty - both inner and out.
