Question It's the end of the world as we know it...

and I feel fine...
-R.E.M.

I'm curious to know if any of you are into predictions about world events and the end of time? I know that it might sound silly to some of you but I've been interested in this since about the third grade. I remember worrying about the coming of the year 2000, even then!!! I also remember feeling worried about the world coming to an end during the Gulf War. That of course came and went, but now we're faced with yet another war in the Middle East. I stopped reading predictions and subjects related to it, such as Nostradamus. It just gets to me.

What I remember learning is as follows:

Supposedly the end of time will be the result of a third world war, or simply a nuclear war, fought with nuclear weapons. The man who is supposed to be the center of this world war will wear a blue turbon. He will have come from a poor family, but will have risen to great wealth.

However, I remember seeing or reading of predictions that say the third or fourth (I can't remember) world war will be fought with sticks, implying that we will not possess the same resources to fight a war as we once did b/c of a previous nuclear war.

So, what am I getting at?

Do any of you worry about where this war is heading?
Or simply, do you worry about the end of time?
What are your thoughts and opinions? Religious or secular.

Depressing subject, but one that's on a lot of people's mind.
I think we are at great risk for an all out nuclear war. If you follow the news, it's the little stories that foreshadow the coming events. By now, everyone should be aware that missing from labs are the following items-
Anthrax-small pox-backpack nucs-

On the boarder of Pakistan, about a month back, WHO reported (I believe it was 8 ) people died from the fever that mimics eboli.

The following is taken from Toronto Globe and Mail-
" Buried on Vozrozhdeniye Island, a former Soviet biological weapons test site, are tons of powdered anthrax, the "deadliest bacteria on Earth". There are also lesser quantities of plague, typhus, smallpox and a host of other disease-causing organisms at the site.
Vozrozhdeniye Island is located in the middle of the Aral Sea, about 1,300 kilometers east of Moscow. Since the breakup of the Soviet Union, the island has been shared by Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, neither of which can afford to police the dump, nor pay for its cleanup. "
Please note the locations UZBEKISTAN and KAZAKHSTAN. Sound familiar?

Pakistan is pretty rocky right now. They have nuclear weapons. The current fear is they could fall into the hands of the Taliban or Al Queda (sp???)

Hi justamom

I know this is pretty depressing. I'm sorry if I brought anyone down. I've been able to set my thoughts and worries aside for the most part, and have been living a good life.

I would just like to know if other people have the same fears/worries that I do. Or, at least similar thoughts. Some of my friends tell me that I worry too much and that this war will come and go just like the rest.

Anyhow, thank you for your reply.

shopgirl-They say the same things about me...
I only meant it's depressing when you consider the reality of the situation. The possibilities are starting to link up and we can only watch and wait.

As far as weaponry acquisition . . . it's difficult to separate fact from fiction. Dredgereport.com gets a lot of wire information, but how reliable? What's the 'byline bias' from foreign wire services? What's the degree of intent for delivery, etc? There's a lot of variables involved.

The strongest point, in my opinion: if you look at the sheer physics of the thing, it's difficult and extremely dangerous to outfit these sort of biological/chemical/even nuclear weapons for delivery. Not the sort of thing that can be done in a low-tier lab, not to mention a set of tents in a cave, so as to hide from satellite imaging . . .

Bottom line: I'd say it's somewhat normal to think of these things, examine the possibilities, etc - it's dangerous to get wrapped up in them, especially when they could potentially be such remote possibilities.
