Hi ladies,
I just wanted to put a word on here about the Nu Chapters philanthropy project. Most of you should be receiving our letters now explaining our ideas.
For those of you who don't know, the National Western Stock Show takes place in Denver, CO every January and is one of the largest stock shows in the country. At the end of the show, all of the junior winners gather to auction of their animals at the Junior Livestock Auction of Champions. Last year the grand champion steer sold for $100,000.
Most of the money bid goes toward a scholarship for the exhibitor. A small portion is also divided into a prize for the carcass contest and for another scholarship fund.
Last year we raised a fairly small amount of money and with the help of two or three other bidders, we were able to purchase a hog shown by Marissa Wooten of New Mexico. It was great to see how much this meant to her, and to know that we are helping to send a young lady to college.
If you have any questions about what your chapter can do to help, please don't hesitate to contact us! Thanks a lot!
