Big Brother Recruitment Story:)
Hi!
I would like to start off by saying that this site is a lifesaver! Thank you to all the people who post amazing advice! I'm a sophomore at a somewhat large school in the West. I am the first to attend to attend college and to consider the idea of going Greek in my family. From what I hear, the Greek system at my school is not super competitive. My school is known as a commuter campus, and I commute as well. We have seven sororities on my campus. I will post everything after I have finished recruitment. If you know what school I attend, please don’t post it on here! I would like to keep it a surprise until the day I post my story.
This week I attended the orientation. It was so much fun! We had the chance to meet a few members from each sorority on campus. I will be using a Big Brother theme as a code for the sororities on my campus. I will post what my initial thoughts were when I met the members at orientation to hold the readers over. (HopefullyJ) With that being said, I am keeping an open mind and would be proud to a member of any of the organizations that I met.
The Code for the seven Sororities:
Brendon
Evel Dick
Jeff
Jen
Jordan
Lane
Rachel
*Disclaimer: If you follow Big Brother, I picked the names just because I thought that they were entertaining on the show. They have no correlation to the sorority that I matched them with!
I would appreciate any advice. If you have any suggestions for me, I would love to hear them! Thanks for reading.
Orientation/Meet and Greet
Brendon- I only spoke with one girl who was extremely sweet. We had a good conversation. We talked mainly about why she joined Brendon and about their philanthropy.
Evel Dick- I talked with a girl that I went to high school with. We knew of each other, but weren’t really friends. She told me about how much she loved Evel Dick. We also talked about how my first year of college was and why I wanted to rush. She introduced me to one of her sisters who was very nice. We were interested in the same sports, so that was pretty much the topic of conversation. I really liked speaking to the girls I met here.
Jeff- I have a really good friend in Jeff. I have had the opportunity to meet a lot of her sisters and I genuinely liked all of them so far. I talked to a girl I didn’t know at the orientation night. She was nice; however, the conversation was a bit awkward. I asked a few questions about the sisterhood and their philanthropy. They seem like a very diverse chapter, which I really like.
Jen- Conversation was ok. We talked about food and about the weather, but that was pretty much it. I felt like the conversation was a bit forced.
Jordan- I really liked this chapter. I was able to speak with the president who introduced me to two of her sisters. The conversation was really nice. We talked about family and what activities we did in high school and college. The girls also talked a lot about their sisterhood and what it means to them. They seemed really excited to share their stories and experiences with me. They made me feel very comfortable.
Lane- I am embarrassed to say this! I left thinking that I had met all the sororities. I didn’t realize until I got home, that I didn’t speak with any of the girls from this chapter. I don’t know how I managed to do that, but I did.
Rachel- This was the first girl I talked to that night. We had a very short conversation. When I asked questions, she answered with really vague answers or “I don’t know.” One other thing that I didn’t really like was that she kept looking around and above my head, not making eye contact. She was nice, but I didn’t really get the answers I was looking for. I know she was probably as nervous as I was, so I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt.
I am going to go into Recruitment with as much as an open mind as possible. I am not making any decisions on who I liked and didn’t like until the first official day of rush. Look for a new post with my complete story in about a weekJ
