LSU Recruitment
Usually there are several threads on LSU recruitment...maybe I have missed them this year. How did things go? Didn't they have bid day over the weekend?
Just wondering...
I have visited this campus and love the way sorority row winds around the block...such a great campus!

I read that 1287 women were placed which seems incredible to me. There are not that many groups on campus. Their pledge classes must be enormous!

Wow that would be huge pledge classes for LSU! Like in the 120s!!! I've never heard of LSU sorority recruitment having numbers that high...but anything is possible at an SEC school!
They have 10 NPC groups who participate in formal recruitment:
Chi Omega, Kappa, Tri Delta, Delta Gamma, Delta Zeta, Theta, Zeta, KD, Phi Mu, & Pi Phi.
ETA: Not sure what quota was but Phi Mu at LSU (find them on facebook) posted they "welcomed 84 fabulous new phis!"

Just saw an update from DG on FB too...
"Gamma Zeta-LSU pledged 84 (chapter size is now 255!)"

Quota was 84, but I only know the official results from DG. From what I have seen on FB, most groups did well, but I've got nothing else substantiated.

I have wanted to post for awhile but for some reason I could not get on and finally had to make a new name and get on with my daughters e-mail! There was probably a much easier way to do this but I am not very profecient on the computer.
Anyway. quota was 84 and as far as I know all groups made quota this year. I went to help at the house for bid day and it was just as emotional and when we were waiting to find out if we got a bid. All the girls are so wore out after two weeks of work that it didn't take much for them to break down!!! A house full of girls is such a fun place to be after 2 weeks of stress.
Daughter told me at the beginning of the week there were over 1000 pmn's which was a record. I assume some dropped or were cut. I was told that one group took about 30 over quota because they lost a lot of members over the summer and needed to get back to total ( can't confim this but heard it froma lot of Baton Rouge moms at bid day) Daughter also said that one groups grades had fallen so much that they could only pledge girls with a 3.5 or above, so that made for a lot of cuts right off. There was even a set of very high profile twins ( don't know if they had that one thing or sequined hose) !
Daughter is glad it is over and is ready to enjoy the year. Last year wasn't the best, she had a very unsupportive boyfirend and almost quit. Thankfully her friends talked her out of it. Nothing I said really helped but when her friends told her exactly what I said it made sense suddenly. Hoping that she makes some of those connections she didn't really make last year and enjoys it more this year.

Every sorority at LSU took quota, which was 84, with a couple of them taking one or two quota additions (DZ may be one of those, can't recall the other sorority or sororities). Nothing outrageous like 30+ quota additions (that'd be something like 110 new members!). The only thing I could think of concerning the chapter that took 30+ above quota would be the one chapter who only made half of quota last year and made quota this year. The difference from the number they took last year to this year would be about that same number, if not more.
And the high profile twins are the sisters of a very high profile athlete currently at LSU. I would imagine they had a relatively easy time with cuts knowing why they were so sought over.

Yes- those were the twins I am talking about and I am sure they had the perfect rush. They prefed daughters sorority but joined another but I was told they were very sweet girls.
Yes- 110 is actually the number I was told they needed to get back to chapter total. It was not the sorority that has not made quota. That is my sorority and I went down to the house for bid day and it looked like they had an awesome pledge class. I have never heard of this sorority having any trouble they are very solid but for some reason this year they lost a lot of girls either for grades or just by transfering schools. Again it may be exaggerated but I was told this by many of the moms and girls in not just my daughters sorority but girls in other sororites also.
But, the pont is all groups made quota and most girls were placed and everyone I saw seemed excitied and having a great time.

if after pledging to quota, a chapter is still under total, they can pledge up to total immediately after formal recruitment-i believe even snap bidding .

If a chapter is under total they can pledge up to total at ANY time.

Which sorority did the "high profile" twins pledge?
I'm happy for all the girls at LSU. The sororities there are all top notch!!
