Question Housing

Hi,

Before going to our regional housing director, I'd thought I'd just ask a general question here since you all are so helpful. Some girls in my chapter(i am alum BTW) are thinking about getting a house(renting not buying)for next year.
what have been your experiences with housing at your school? What are some key examples of house rules?
We have heard stories from one end of the spectrum to the other so the girls are totally unsure.

Thank you for any advice

I can't really help you all that much, seeing as though we don't have a house...

We decided not to get one b/c we think we'd all get sick of eachother if we lived together- and it's way to expensive.

Thumbs up

the house is a great way to bring the sisters together. we have a house where 12 girls live, and although we don't always get along, we are a lot closer now. we also have a place to get together for sisterhoods and movie nights. we have a chapter room for all of our composits and such and it's a great place for recruitment. we have all of our recruitment events at our house and i don't know what we would do if we didn't have a house. there are problems with filling the house, but when push comes to shove, go in PCO. have cleaning crews to clean the house after events, and once a year, near the end of the summer, have a house clean to get the house in good condition before everyone begins to occupy it. if you have any questions i would be more than happy to give you the name and number of our housing chair.

Heres my take on the house:

If it is "official" every sister has to live in it for a year (aka read the FHOF form)

Some people dont live well with others... (aka me)

Make sure you elect a good house mom

have a set chore chart, fine if it isnt followed

thats all I cant think of now, I will telll more when I think of it!

Love our house. We worked so hard to get our house and i love it. last year there was 11 people now there are 9. We have 2 doubles and 5 singles. One thing if you are going to get a house is know how you are going to fill it. We fill our house like this" Archon, House Manager, E-Board, Alpha Initation order.
having a house has made the people who live in it soo much closer. its like we have our own little clique with in the chapter(but we dont really because we have such a good group of girls). Make sure you have a strong house manager who will get what needs to be done around the house. I respect our house manager because she even writes herself up when she lags on her chores. you also have to be careful about what you have on the outside of the house. you know how frat houses love to steal things!! yeah one night our ashtrays were stolen from our front poarch!!! if you have any more questions do bother to ask!!
