Smile My XO legacy

Hi sisters!
Had my ultrasound today and my little Hootie is soooo cute!!!

Heartbeat is perfect and she had her little fist stretched out saying "get me outta here!"

I promise I won't be one of those moms that talk non-stop endlessly about this.... but I did want to share a highlight!

LICO! Sue

My sister says if you get morning sickness- it is a girl; if no sickness- a boy. So far- I have had no sickness... might be a little TKE, Sigma Chi, Lamda Chi.....

Sue, I am so excited for you!!! I didn't know you had found out what you were having!!!!! By the way, you can pretty much trust the u/s on the gender. It depends on the view they got (my daughter spread her legs wiiiiiide open so they got the perfect crotch shot.) Sometimes, it is true that if they don't see a penis they automatically say "girl" but often they can actually identify female genitalia. So don't worry. (By the way, I know people who were told definitely a boy and it turned out to be a grrrrrl. It happens.) These days they tend to tell you how sure they are.....if they aren't really sure they will say so. My u/s when we found out Coulter was a boy was so funny.....the tech actually put this little computer icon arrow on the screen pointing to his little penis and typed in "It's a boy!!!!".....the picture came out just like that, arrow and all, pointing right to his little you-know-what!!!!!!!!!!

With our first 3 girls, we couldn't tell the sex from the ultrasound; sonograms have come a looooong way since the eighties! After that, we had 4 boys and a girl and we knew ahead of time. With the boys, it was like they were doing a fetus porno show. "Here it is...and here it is from another view...and I'll flip over so you can see it again!"

No, with us, there was never any question about the males..

Sue, congratulations on your XO legacy!!!! I am personally partial to little girls given that I have two little beauties of my own You're going to be a great mom!

Any name ideas? If you are interested in getting a baby name book, I heartily recommend one called The Last Word on First Names by Pamela Redmond Satran and Linds Rosenkrantz. It is wonderful and SO helpful and it goes way beyond those other baby name books that say things like "Tracy is a Greek/Latin name that means Brave Fighter" . I've bought four copies, one for me and three for various pregnant friends!

Sorry gang if I misled ya- I don't know the sex yet- just going by rumors and ole wives tales!

I like Jack for a boy and Ruby Jane (after my grandmother) for a girl. But- Kevin has other ideas. I say "hey it has to have your last name (Flood) so I should get to pick the first names!!!!"

P.S.- thank you for all your congrats! Your excitement makes me so less nervous and able to enjoy all of this - you all are so awesome! Sue

Sue--good luck on the names! I had certain names picked out all my life for a daughter. My husband's father didn't give a rip what his kids were named so I though his son would be like him--well, wrong! Mr. Jock had very strong opinions about his daughters' names! We had no arguments about the boys' names, but argued a bunch over the girls'. Plus he liked all these fifties names and I had to tell him that while Debbie, Brenda, and Susan were great in their time, you just don't see people naming their kids that anymore. On the other hand, he thought my choices were weird.

If we ever have any more, I get to pick the names. Period!!!!

Carnation, you must be the most patient person on the face of the earth. I can't believe I just read "if I have any more"!!!!!!!! I only have two and although I think they are the greatest kids ever born and I love them with all my heart, there are moments when I am so overwhelmed I could cry. I really would like one more, but my husband is adamant that we stop at two and I must admit that a part of me wonders if I could handle it. I babysat my nephew recently and it was a madhouse with the three. But the nice thing about having lots of kids is that by the time you get to the later ones, the first ones are old enough to really be a help. My two are only 22 mos. apart, ao it was like having two babies at once. How do you do it? May I ask if you have any "multiples?" My hubby is a twin and I kind of hoped that we might have twins, but it wasn't in the cards for us.
