Establishing a new sorority on campus.
Hi.
I am currently a second semester freshman at CSUN (California State University, Northridge.) I've been looking at many sororities and they all seem interesting, but I'm thinking why not establish my own sorority? I know it takes a lot of hard work in order to accomplish this, but if anybody can just give me some hints, requirement, guidelines for a head start it will be greatly appreciated.

Why is everyone so eager to start a new sorority on this board all of a sudden? I've seen 2 other threads with the same topic! If I were you, I'd go through recruitment first then go from there. What makes you think that a new sorority would be any more interesting than the current ones?

I'm just curious why you would want to start a new organization? What would be your purpose in doing so other than not having to go through rush/intake/whatever the pc term is? What are you bringing that no other organization has to offer and based on that, why does it need to be a sorority rather than a regular student org?
Honestly, there are hundreds of greek letter organizations out there. I can't even imagine what reason anyone in the year 2010 would have to start something new. (And i mean that in the nicest way possible)

There are 12 sororities of different kinds there. NONE of them speak to you?

LOL
You don't get to tell us what the hell we can and can't reply to.
If you had all the answers, you'd already be Greek

Seriously, what is wrong with the sororities at CSUN. There are 6 NPCs (one of my yoga class buddies was a charter member of one of them)
1 NPHC
and 5 locals
So besides the fact that you didn't get a bid to one of them, what's the freaking problem with them?
Seriously, I wanna know...

If you're going to get irked when someone gives you a founderitis shot don't come on this freaking board!!
But just for giggles, if you started your own sorority, which council would it be in? (I have a hunch, but please fill me in.)
Jill - actually those are all national/regional Latin-based sororities, not locals.

They didn't have a pretty website for her to read and fall in love with the colors, philanthropy and ideals...

We are asking why you feel the need to start anotehr sorority when there are 12 on campus. If you can give us a good reason, maybe you would get some actual advice.

First off ma'am, calm down.
Second, read: http://www.greekchat.com/gcforums/sh...ad.php?t=93174
It tells you all you need to know about starting a new sorority.
Third, understand that when you come to a site to ask for help, you get nowhere with snottiness. You're the one who is interested in sorority life. You will get nowhere if you have that attitude in real life.
Fourth, Senusret I is hereby sent to the corner. Thank you.
