basically, hanover police just announced a new policy of setting up campus checkpoints and "sting operations" to crack down on underage drinking on campus. they will be sending undercover "operatives" posing as underage students into houses to see if they can get access to alcohol and houses that are caught providing to minors can be fined up to $100,000!
dartmouth has always had a rather unique and open greek system where you never have to be on any list to get into a party, everyone is welcome anytime. people are concerned that this new police policy will force the greek system to be closed off to non-members so houses can protect themselves from sting operations. there are also people worried about the policy driving underage drinking even further underground.
has anyone ever heard of this sort of thing happening before?
