Big Fire, No Injuries at Dartmouth Fraternity
A major fire at a Dartmouth fraternity has been reported. Thankfully, there are no injuries. The student paper mentions a sprinkler system. In my view, far better to have water damage from sprinklers than injuries or deaths (God forbid) from a fire.

Excerpts:
Phi Delta Alpha fraternity suffered significant damage early Sunday morning when a fire in the attic of the physical plant caused the building's fire suppression system to initiate. All members living in the house were immediately evacuated, and no one suffered any injuries, according to Roland Adams, College director of media relations.
Officials have not yet determined the exact cause of the fire . . . . The fire was observed by first responders in a wall before it was discovered in the attic. The third floor of the building suffered heavy fire damage . . . while the entire physical plant suffered water damage from the sprinkler system.
. . . Because of the extensive damage to the building's interior due to the fire and sprinkler system, Gilbert estimated the building will likely not be habitable for the remainder of the school year.
Twenty five members of Phi Delt were living in the house at the time of the fire and all members have been temporarily relocated to College residence halls . . . .
ETA: The Associated Press is reporting in an article in the Boston Herald:

Hanover Fire Capt. Michael Hinsley tells the Valley News the sprinkler system "absolutely" saved the lives of the students living on the third floor.
The cause of the fire has not been determined, although residents had been using a wood-burning fireplace the night before the fire.
