Lambda Chi Alpha HQ Suspends U of Kentucky Chapter Operations

			See:http://kykernel.com/2009/11/19/natio...ds-uk-chapter/
Whatever the "events" were -- or may have been -- that led to this action seem to be undisclosed at this time. The Kentucky Kernel newspaper's site reports:

Excerpts:
National Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity suspends UK chapter operations Posted by Laura Clark on November 19, 2009

Further actions of the UK chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity were suspended Wednesday, Nov. 18, according to an e-mail sent from the fraternity’s international headquarters. All chapter operations have been suspended until the investigation of the events is completed.

“Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity’s International Headquarters is currently working with Epsilon-Phi chapter’s leadership and (UK) officials to determine what events may have occurred,” the e-mail stated.

. . . UK officials and the chapter president Michael Haag denied comment because of a lack of information.

“We cannot address the issue yet,” UK spokeswoman Gail Hairston said. “We have to wait until certain procedures are completed, and that has not yet happened.” . . .

I know that they were providing alcohol to minors during rush in their house, our rush site was right next to their house.

They did. But that doesn't mean much. It's a dry campus, and dry rush, but it's not too hard to get away with it in a house. I got a drink from them during rush, being new and all, they didn't know I wasn't a rushee.

Second fraternity charged with hazing in last five months
Posted by Laura Clark on November 22, 2009
The Kentucky Kernel
Excerpt:
In June, the former Kentucky Alpha Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity was charged with hazing. Now, just five months later, another fraternity faces the same charges.
The UK chapter of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity has been charged with hazing, violating the university’s Code of Student Conduct, said Associate Dean of Students Tony Blanton.

The fraternity’s international headquarters contacted the Office of Student Affairs on Tuesday afternoon, saying they had received information about potential hazing “right then and there,” Blanton said. Representatives were sent to Lexington and arrived at the chapter’s house around 9 p.m., where they temporarily suspended the chapter’s activities and “procured all their ritual equipment,” Blanton said.

Blanton said a police officer went to the house with the headquarters representatives, but it was standard operating procedure.
