Cravings
Since Soror Loviest95 informed us of the upcoming birth of her daughter, I thought I'd post this. Also, earlier today, I heard this topic on the radio.
For all of you mothers out there, and those currently carrying a child, what did you crave or are you craving during your pregnancy?
This chick on the radio said she craved HOT pickles and some kind of gravy from Hardee's. I was like NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I love pickles, BUT WITH GRAVY? nooooooooottttttt!

Ok I'm going to join in on this!! With my first child - It would be Fried Chicken with hot peppers, pizza, and everything else that was spicy; My second child it was Watermelon; my third child it was a chicken sandwich from Chick Filet at least once a week! -
But with all three of them I would take a spoon and go to the Flour Cansiter and eat!!

When I was pregnant, I never ate anything strange, I just ate in a strange manner.
I would want to eat the same exact thing everyday for like six weeks straight. At one point all I would eat would be cling peaches from the can (not fresh), and they would have to be in water, not syrup.
Then, all I would eat would be Whoppers, w/extra mayo, separated in the middle. Then it would be Turkey subs, extra cheese, nothing else, from Subway. Then, it was Big Classic Classic w/cheese, no bacon from Wendy's. I couldn't wait to have my daughter. I was tired of eating all that garbage, but nothing else would really stay down.
Oh, and I would drink milk by the gallons! I was drinking a gallon of milk in two days.

One of my neighbors craved dirt, so she kept a pot of soil in her window sill that she could have easy access.

Prepare Yourselves....
My son is six going on sixty, but that's another story. Anyway, at the time we had a refrigerator that had to be defrosted (remember those?). I CRAVED the frost from it. I was eating it by the chunks, like it was a snow cone or something. I COULD NOT stop doing it. The day I brought my son home I tried it and vomitted. Go figure.
I also ate a lot of chocolate which is strange for me because I don't like chocolate. I'll eat something covered in chocolate, like snickers or butterfingers, but not plain chocolate. Yuck!! I was buying the huge bag of oreos several times a week. I had to keep replacing the bags so that my honey wouldn't notice I was INHALING them. I also ate double chocolate cake and solid milk chocolate hershey bars a lot.
I also craved things that I ate a lot as a child: grape, apple, orange and banana now-and-laters, (I actually broke down and cried when they didn't have apple at the store), peanut butter and jelly sandwhiches with JIF EXTRA CHUNKY peanut butter, tacos with hot sauce and lots of sour cream, and those rainbow candy cane sticks. I also had to have ice in all my drinks.
Surprisingly, I only gained TEN pounds during my pregnancy. My son weighed 7lbs 8 3/4 ounces.

I don't really crave anything too strange-- I am just HUNGRY!!
It hits me all of a sudden I am starving to death!!
But then I can't eat very much at one time.
I do however, eat a pack of Sweet-tarts at my grad class every tuesday nite and only on tuesday nite- and I drink milk by the gallon
In fact I was kinda worried because I am 5 months and I have not really gained any weight... ( I have gone up one clothes size)

I have always craved baking soda, ever since I was a little girl. I don't know why, and when I mentioned it to my doctor he just looked at me like . I've had to break myself out of eating it because it can mess up your stomach lining, but I like the taste and the smell... go figure. It's probably something that my body is missing, but I haven't figured it out yet.
I've heard of people digging up red clay when I was in SC and eating it. People that crave it here actually buy it and eat it. One of my co-workers told me that his son eats deodorant constantly and they have to hide it. His son is 6.
Anyway, aside from the baking soda, when I was pregnant, I ate ice all the time (yes, I was anemic, and I couldn't keep my vitamins down). I used to eat it by the buckets full (no exaggeration!!)! Now, I still crave it every once in a while, and I may crush it in the blender, but I also take a multivitamin or eat veggies & nuts to make sure my iron is up.

I had a gf to crave some of these things you mentioned, for example: red clay dirt, frost from the fridge(i use to tell her not to eat that poison ice) she would go and search for people who had refrigs with that type of ice---strangers and all. The one thing that really grossed me out is she craved corn starch(she would literally put a straw in a box of corn starch and suck it out)!
The one weird craving I had when I was pregnant with my daughter, was I would eat candy apples with peanut butter on them.

My cousin started having her children at an early age (14), and she had 6 by the time she was 21 ...which is a whole 'nother story! She's turning 30 in Dec., but anyway...during each of her pregnancies she craved and ate AJAX and ice. I can remember her sitting on the couch "Indian-style" with a economy size box (not a can, but the box!) of AJAX in her lap and a mixing bowl of ice sitting next to her. She would sit and eat this for hours. It would gross me out and make me so mad because I was scared that she was hurting the baby, but each of her children were just fine.
My other cousin which is pregnant with her 2nd child, craves Cherry Cinnamon Rolls...and she is allergic to cherries!!! However, that doesn't stop her from eating an entire package!

Good topic. Okay, with my daughter I craved summer fruits especially watermelon, honey dew melons, and cantaloup (?sp). With my son, I craved maccaroni and cheese and it HAD to come from Save Way.

I was hoping by this time someone else would have attempted to get a response on this CRAVING. Let me get this straight, when I think of AJAX I am visualizing the cleanser, like COMET, that is used to clean TOILETS, SINKS and TUBS. So that being said, HOW DOES ONE DEVELOP A CRAVING FOR A CLEANING PRODUCT??
NOT ONLY THAT but how PRAYTELL did her mama let her sit there and keep eating it? She was still a minor. Tell her no. I am FLABBERGASTED @ this craving.
That is like me getting prego and craving Febreze, Tide, Clearasil, gasoline, battery acid or other things. She now has a 16 year old. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I am analyzing this from a lot of different standpoints.
