Patti LaBelle: BET and You
I don't know about everyone else but I love Patti LaBelle. I really cannot wait for the day that I get to see her perform live. Whenever I have seen her perform on TV, I have always been mesmerized by her performance because she is such a consummate performer.
Anyway. . . on OCTOBER 30, BET will honor her on their WALK OF FAME or something.
What is/are your favorite Patti LaBelle song(s)? I can never name just one of anything.
My Favorites:
1. My Love Sweet Love from Waiting to Exhale Soundtrack
2. If Only You Knew
3. You are My Friend
4. When You've Been Blessed
5. Does He Love You
6. You Are My Solid Ground

CT4,
I have seen her perform live many times, and I am here to tell you, if you like Patti you will love her show, because she puts on a hellava show. I'm talking shoes coming off and flying into the rows of people. I'm talking rolling on the floor. Her show is a sight to be seen, but you get your monies worth...and that you can believe.

Patti
There is no explaination when it comes to the Diva herself, Miss Patti LaBelle. I can't say I have a favorite song, because I love each on of her songs. They all have special meaning and a unique flavor to them.. She deserves the honor, but in my opinion, it should have been a long time ago. Do Your Thing, Patti Patti

Mannnnnn, I just hope they find some people to really do her songs some justice. The lady of Soul awards tribute was so-so, it could have been better. I was kind of disappointed.
They need to get:
Yolanda Adams (she sang a secular tune last night in tribute to John Lennon)
Whitney (if she can lay off the pipe)
Monica
Mary
Christina

Definitely YOLANDA!! There are very few people who can handle her intensity and sing with her passion. They might try KElly Price.
KeKe Wyatt who sang the remake of MY FIRST LOVE with Avant has a Patti remake out of If Only You KNew -- it is pretty decent.
They need to get her old BlueBelles to sing as well.
Tamia might work. Jill Scott as well. OOOO I know Chaka Khan. Faith Evans could probably do it as well. Hmmmmmmmm I agree her tribute, props, etc are long over due.

LOL!
Words cannot express how I love me some Patti! I've seen her perform, too and she puts on one dynamic show.
I LOVE all of her songs, but my favorite is Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
You know Luther has to be included in this tribute. It just wouldn't be right w/o him.

He is singing, and I forget which song that he said he was going to sing. But you know that he will be there.

Patti has a DVD out that's as close as you can get to being at her concert. It's really good. Luther is on there too.

My favorite out of Aunt Patti's collection are:
You are My friend (she sang this at my aunt's funeral this past winter ~ they were very close)
She sang a rendition of The Lord's Prayer at the funeral and it was the best I've ever heard to date (so thats another one of my favorites that she sings although it is not on album).

Good Tribute
It's on and I FLEEEEEEW HOME FROM class and only miss Robert Townsend's opening commentary.
So far I am really enjoying Jamie's comedic skits. I loved Jill's and Brian's duet performance and City High's.
They are getting ready to do the duet with India and Musiq -- so far so good.
I thoroughly enjoyed this but feel a tribute to her was LONG OVERDUE.
It was WONDERFUL to see LaBelle perform but GET RID of Mariah's 1/2 dressed behind.

LOVED IT, LOVED IT, LOVED IT!!!
I absolutely LOVE myself some Patti LaBelle....especially,
If Only You Knew
When You've Been Blessed
Somebody Loves You!
Now about the show, they could have left City High where they were, and replaced them with someone else, but I loved everyone else including JILL SCOTT [Man, that girl can sang! ] and GERALD LEVERT! I was waiting for her to do 'When You've Been Blessed", but nevertheless, I still loved her encore performance of The Lord's Prayer. It brought tears to my eyes. She is such a wonderful person and the award couldn't have been given to a more deserving songstress.

Ya'll I loved it. . . .I am a big Patti fan. . .I am so glad that they did this for her, she deserves it.
As far as the performances. . .I think everyone did a good job, but Gerald, the deut with Brian McKnight and Jill Scott. . . . LOVED IT.
And to see the Labelle's perform was GREAT. . they all still look good.
Also, what is a show with out Luther. . .he did an excellent job as well.

I thought the show was good. I think Patti should have gotten this a long time ago as well. Now I thought City High was pretty good. I enjoyed them singing the song that they sung....but my favorite was of course my main man Gerald. I straight up loved when he spelled out his name, and then did a Pattism by rolling on the floor. There was nothing no better than that. That's why of all the people that were on the show, Patty wanted him the most.
