recruitment issue or not?
alright, so i'm transferring next year and obviously will not have any say in my current chapter's recruitment. but in the last week i've heard a lot about the upcoming recruitment and have heard from 3 reliable sources that one of our sisters made a statement--at a panhellnic fundraiser where all chapters were present, by the way--that we need to not recruit any more "fat girls" because we dont want to get a reputation for being fat and ugly. another thing to keep in mind is that we just came out of greek week completely on top, have already been asked by a top frat to do events with them next year, and if i do say so myself, we have a very gorgeous group of girls. while we might not all be a size 0, but we're all beautiful--none of our girls are by any means obese and all recieve positive attention from boys on campus, not that that really matters but i guess in this instance it's worth saying. our next chapter meeting will be the last one of the year and therefore my lat meeting with this chapter. it's a recruitment workshop. should i say something to address this issue? i feel like this girl should be in some way called out, i won't use her name but in my opinion that's an absurd thing to say, and while i want to leave my chapter on a good note, i also want them to know my two cents on that comment.

There's no need to cause any drama, especially since you're on your way out.
Just let it go. Chances are, you're probably not the only one who feels the way you do. Let them take care of it.

Agreed. Just because one person in your chapter said this, it doesn't mean the whole chapter feels this way. I highly doubt that membership selection meetings are going to turn from productive and logical, to "No bid for her, she's too fat" over the course of one semester (or ever, for that matter).
You just have to trust that the chapter is choosing members for all the right reasons. And if you really want to help them with recruitment, wait a few years, then go back and see if you can be their Recruitment Advisor like I did

If only ONE of your sisters made that comment, someone (sounds like it shouldn't be you - maybe an advisor?) should simply whisper in her shell-like ear about membership selection discussions of ANY sort being private. I wouldn't overreact to one sister's comments. It sounds like the chapter as a whole has its focus where it needs to be.

Or you could just tell her that you heard that the dude she liked said he'd never date her because she's a total bitch.
