Chi Omega has closed its chapter at Utah State U, according to an article posted on the Salt Lake Tribune’s site.
Excerpts from article:
. . . Prosecutors allege eight underage Chi Omega members participated in an unofficial fraternity pledging event that turned deadly after freshman Michael Starks drank most of a liter bottle of vodka provided by one of the women. . . .
USU student Cerissa Huot, president of Chi Omega's 78-year-old Alpha Gamma chapter, declined comment, referring queries to the national office in Memphis.
National Chi Omega executive director Anne Emmerth could not divulge the reasons for shutting down the chapter house at 743 N. 800 East. She did say the move came after a long investigation that concluded Monday and that members must move out next week.
"We've been working with the university for housing and they have … assured us that our members will have a place to live," Emmerth said. . . .
