Tour the White House

Not actually - but this is a site where you can compare how different administrations used the White House Historical Association funds to keep the White House appropriately decorated. You can even vote at the end for which ones you liked the best.

Domino Magazine's White House Tour

The decorator part of me would love to have the option of having such wonderful rooms to work with, and the funds to do it!

ETA: There was also a retrospective of the Lincoln Bedroom, but I haven't been able to find it yet. I did find this video.

That was fun -- I'd never seen the White House master bedroom before.

I found the comparisons of the treatment of the Lincoln Bedroom, here.

I didn't know this before, but it was actually Lincoln's office prior to the addition of the West Wing. The Emancipation Proclamation was signed there, and the original Gettysburg Address is there. FDR was the president who decided to convert the room into a memorial to Lincoln. Good call!

Interestingly (to me, anyhow), Lincoln spent a night in Pittsburgh prior to his first Inaugaration, and the bed was found in the past few years. It had the same style of headboard.
