All I Wanna Do Is Get Hight

Who sings that damn song All I Wanna Do Is Get High. This shit was on the radio during my drive to work. I was pissed after listening to the words. I called the radio station to complain but could not get through. What in the hell is going on. This is not music but an insult not only to Black folk but for all who strive to reach a higher plain in life and beyond.

Yuh huh, yes they are. I heard it in Columbus on one of the RARE times I had the radio on. I saw it on video first and was too through.

I've been thinking about this thing. We have a responsibility (in my Jesse Jackson voice) as progressive men and women to get this shit off the air. It sends the wrong message to children, young adults, grown folk who like the song and don't no any better and to adults who want take a stand and speak out against this this this type of shit. I'm like a kettle ready to boil over.

That song was playing here in Boston before anyone I know of in ATL heard it and that is rare.

We had a discussion about the song in my girls scout troop and I was surprised at their response - a lot of them pointed to the fact that he basically explains how getting high messed up his life/events that he tried to do - they also thought the song was silly and wasn't as bad as other songs that glorify getting high - I thought it was just a single, but apparently he has an entire album - I guess anyone can get a deal these days.

Cool

I think most people judge the song without really hearing it in its entirety. If they did hear all of it, they probably wouldn't be so hard on it. Personally, as most of yall can tell now, I like it. It is a creative, simple way to say how weed messed his life up. The video looks real silly, as do most others; but this one's different. His method served its purpose; it caught everybody's attention.

I just hope people catch the point before they judge the video/song.

DAP TO THE AFROMAN!!!

Angry I Hate It!!!

I absolutely HATE this song!

Yes, Afroman was creative in describing how weed messed up his life. But, I still do not like it. He has a valid message but it comes across wrong. Those who know better are totally disgusted after hearing the hook that they don't even want to hear his message. The point of being creative with anything is to get people's attention to draw them in and then tell them what you want them to know. If you piss them off with your intro, they won't wait to hear your point.

I do like that someone is taking on the harmful effects of a "soft" drug like weed. But, I know if I ever heard my neice singing that song I would snatch her lips right off her face.

OApe,
YOU may realize the true intentions of the song. But do you really think that small children or people who don't know any better that hear it are gonna sit down and dissect the lyrics? Most likely not. They will be singing the catchy hook and subconsciously internalizing it. I think I agree with the others who hate this song. It is a waste of airtime.
