If it's not in your bylaws or constitution, then it's just a rumor. Ignore it.

Sisterhood isn't limited to your years in college. Visit your HQ's website. There should be pics of alumnae wearing letters.

I highly doubt any national organization has this rule.

And if that is a rule of your chapter, it won’t really matter. Once you graduate, you don’t have to follow your collegiate by-laws. There aren’t any consequences to face if you don’t follow this rule, so it's irrelevant.

Considering all the isht that has been happening at SDSU, I am guessing this was put into place as a risk management rule, if it is true. But it's completely uninforceable, unless the chapter wants to terminate you through the national headquarters so you are no longer an alum.

oh, if you don't go there, forget my statement.

There is no such rule. Alums can wear letters whenever they want.

You may feel less comfortable wearing your letters daily in a more professional, adult life but usually there is not a rule against it. As a 30-something I personally feel more comfortable wearing my organizations symbols instead of letters.

I like to wear symbols too!!! Even if it is a little thing my Yellow Bird Vera Bradley, it reminds me of the sorority that I belong to and that I represent!

That being said, I still wear my letters occasionally. When I go to the gym, I often wear either a lettered or Panhellenic shirt (I acquired many throughout my college years). I also have a very warm pull over windbreaker that has my letters on it! However, I don't typically wear them to work because of the environment I work in.

My alumnae panhellenic has ordered shirts - the design is a woman standing amongst sign posts with all 26 NPCs on arrows pointing in various directions - "No matter which way you go, you can't go wrong!" is the slogan on it.

That is a great Panhellenic shirt for college or alumnae!

I've seen alums over fifty years old wearing letters. Not commonly, but I've seen it. Alums are definately allowed to wear letters, I just don't think they do it anywhere as near as much as collegiates.

I wear mine. I sometimes still get asked where I "go" to school. Heehee. It feels as good as getting carded!

Two of the hardest-working alumnae in our association met because one of them was wearing her letters. They were both in their forties, and were next door neighbors!

Wear your letters with pride.

That would be crazy if a chapter tried to enforce, after all sisterhood is "Not for four years but for life"
