Candi, I didn't see your question until this spammer showed up, so thank you to the spammer!
At Rose Ball, our new initiates were presented with their big sisters and fathers. Each new member would be introduced as follows:
"AOII Angel is presented by her big sis, Suzy Q, and is escorted by her father, Mr. Angel. She is a freshman majoring in Pre-Med from Heaven, LA."
We then had a father/daughter dance after each was presented. All of the new initiates would wear white while the older sisters wore what ever color they chose.

As for retreat, our pledge classes always wrote a new AOII song at retreat. Some of the songs were downright terrible, but others ended up being used for recruitment, including my pledge class song which was set to the music from the "Ice Castles" theme.

Enjoy being NME, you have an opportunity to frame the view of AOII for a whole group of your sisters. It's a big responsibility!

Hello Candi!!

My sorority also had the same Roseball style as the above post. Here are some things we did at our retreat as new members:

Every girl was told to bring 3 items that meant something to them and give a little spill on what its signigicance was. Some items had just fun and playful stories, while other really brought some seriousness to the conversation. This was a great way for the new girls to get to know one another and break the ice.

We also played the skittles game. Its just like "never have I ever". All the girls sit in a circle and put a big bowl in the middle. Girls go around in a circle saying things they have never done (or some things they have but they have to throw a skittle) and all the girls who have done that have to throw a skittle in the bowl. Its alot of fun and another great way for all of the girls to really bond and get to know each other.

We had every girl decorate a paper bag with their name on it and set them all together in a designated area. During the night or on our own time we were all told to write something nice about every girl and put it in their bags. Each girl picked up her bag as she left. It was probably one of my favorite things about retreat. Every girl left with love in their heart for their fellow sisters. I still have my bag and when im feeling down I get it out and look at it.

Another game we play is with a beach ball. Before the event YOU write down alot of crazy or informative things on a beach ball and section them off such as: Get up and do the chicken dance, or, if you could go anywhere in the world where would you go?, or do you have any tatoos if so show us. Just whatever you think of. All the girls sit in a circle and throw the ball around the room to each girl. When the girl catches the ball whatever section her thumb is on is the question she has to answer or perform. If their is a repeat question then we do the closest question not done. Again, its just another fun thing for the girls to get to know each other better.

Thats all I can think of for now!! lol

Glad to know Lambda Tau has kept a lot of the same traditions that we upheld when I was a chapter member! Do y'all not do a pledge class song anymore?
