Greek Community Comes Together

Wow! I'm so proud to say that the Greek Community at University of Michigan Dearborn has come together, minus any little bickering or petty arguments. It is sad that it took a national tragedy to make this happen. What happened last Tuesday is so, so horrible. We came together to sponsor a school-wide supply drive. We collected soooo much! Our goal was to collect $20,000, and on Monday nite our unofficial total was between 14-15,000. I am so proud of our fraternities and sororities on campus, and of all chapters around the country. We were helpless, but we decided to get in and do what we could. And we also proved that Greek life isn't about partying and getting drunk...it's main purpose is to help people. I'm so glad that we had a chance to do this.

What a great effort. Congrats to the Greek community there for making a difference. I'd be interested in knowing what other Greek groups on other campuses are doing too, because you're right PM_Mama00, Greek life is about so much more than partying.

The Greek community all over the nation is really putting a lot of effort into philanthropy, but it's sad that it had to take a worldwide tragedy to improve our image in the eyes of the anti-Greek community.

Here's a link to the official school paper...AEPi and Theta usually work at the blood drives throughout the year, and they continued to work for this one. We were out on our Main Quad, collecting donations...here's a pic and a link. http://www.brown.edu/Administration/.../26GSJ04d.html

While I have always said The Greek Community is special because of what we normally do, The whole country is doing and We as Greeks are right in the midst of the Fray once again doing what we always do. That is to help and we do it so well!!

HUZZA for the Greek Organizations once again!

We may fight and bicker amonst each other but when the chips are down, Well I do not need to say any more!
