Rush Starts Tomorrow~!!!

I missed GC quite a lot this week, and I had found that I relied on you all for support and so much encouragment. My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire nation. We have suffered such a horriffic and profound tragedy, and I know, that as Americans...and all of us around the world, we will prevail. We will continue to stand tall and fly our flag proud. Best wishes to all of you during this sad and tragic event.

Now..
Because we are Americans and because our resolve is so strong, we must continue to push on, to strive for our normalcy back, and I for one, can not wait until tomorrow. Yes, Tomorrow, because Rush starts tomorrow!!!!

YAY.
I am SO excited and everyone here will of course get DAY - by- DAY results. Tomorrow night is our first meeting...(informal)..and then it actually starts MONDAY!

Bid day is NEXT monday.

I'm soooooooo excited!

Okay, so it doesn't start till 6:30 which isn't for awhile, since it's only 3 here, BUT! C'mon, girls, what should I wear???????????

I'm the only girl at my house so I don't get any help from my family on important events like this.

Any ideas?

Are you assigned a Rho Chi yet?

At my school there is a brochure which also includes information about what you should wear on each night!

How many days is rush? Which groups are at your school?

Most rush wear gets gradually more formal everyday. The first day being fairly casual- not jeans or anything, but perhaps a simple outfit like nice Khaki's and a sweater set. By the time Pref rolls around, most schools's rushees wear Semi Formal dresses.

Good luck, Jessica! That's my name, too, by the way! I just got my bid LAST Monday (Sept.10th), and I am VERY happy with where I ended up. Just be yourself, ask lots of questions (but don't mention anything about parties or guys!) and smile as much as you can without being fake! Also, you HAVE to pledge Zeta (just kidding!)! Choose where ever you feel most comfortable and loved!

OKay, so I have to explain a little about my school again so you guys can understand why Rush is like it is here. It's Indiana University AND- we only have ONE sorority and one fraternity. The Sorority is Phi Sig and the Frat is like, Delta Gamma Iota or something like that. SO. Because I only get ONE choice, Rush is sun-thursday and bid day is monday. (Ps...you're thinking, wait, IU has HUGE greek life. They do. I'm at IU- South Bend, a commuter campus. )So, tonight was an informal meeting that, well, to go you pretty much have to know a sister already b/c they aren't posted as actual rush nights. Prosepective members are allowed to go to TWO informal meetings before Rush actually Begins. Tonight was my second and school wide rush begins tomorrow night. But, I consider this (and the last informal mtg I attened) Rush, BECAUSE I'm still making an impression. Every chance I get, right? So, I called the MRC, a good friend of mine, and asked her what I should wear and she just said jeans and such. So, I put on my favorite pair of jeans, and a sweatshirt and my REALLY fabulous new sandal-type clogs. I looked bitchin. heh. SO...I get there and immediently one of the sisters was like..."JESSICA!" and rushed up to me and took me in. I'm evidently the only one who decided to take advantage of the informal meeting! These girls are TOTALLY awesome. Very down to earth and amazing girls. So, I sat through the meeting, and afterwards, a girl was like, so are you nervous? And the vice president came up and was like, Nervous, are you kidding me? She's already practically one of us! (silent yay inserted here) THEN, another girl was like telling me about fraternity history education and she's like...Oh, but you'll learn more about that later when you get in......then it's like she forgot what she was saying and quicky added.."you know, if you get in." (another silent yay inserted here.) So, I'm totally rockin and laughing with the girls and then like, six of them just take me out to dinner! I had the best time AND every sigle guy at the resturaunt stopped at our table. I felt like a queen! It was SOOOOOOOOO much fun.
Anyways, I'm really hoping that tonight was an excellent sign of good things to come. I think it's great there's only one sorority b/c I wont be confused as to where I want to be, and I think even if there WAS more than one, I was destined to be a Phisig. Of course, (to put things into perspective) If I don't get a bid...It's going to be okay, bc I met tons of great new people and although I'd be a little bit heartbroken I'd get over it before ya know it!
