Sorry, no link. We were actually discussing the other night how we would love to see our Quill go online.
I'll type out what was said in the letter (it's fairly short):
Panhellenic Spirit
I read with great interest the article "Alpha Xi Delta's Artwork of Heraldry" in the summer 2003 issue of
The Quill. The intricacies of heraldic symbols, colors and placement of componenets are quite fascinating.
The article mentioned that Emily Butterfield was hired to complete revisions to the original design of Alpha Xi Delta's coat of arms, and that she had done similar work for other men's and women's fraternal organizations. This information is especially significant to Alpha Gamma Delta, as Emily is one of our 11 Founders and a renowned authority on heraldry. As Alpha Gamma Delta begins the observance of our centennial year, we are pleased that one of our Founders is recognized once again for her expertise in heraldry.
Interfraternally,
Suzanne Carmack Spicer
Alpha Gamma Delta International President
The original article was printed in the Summer 2003 issue, but unfortunately, our past issues on the website are only current through Summer 2002. I'll post the link though, in case it gets updated sometime:
