How do recs work?

Recs come from a member of that particular sorority. Only a Kappa sister can write a rec for the KKG sisters at your school, etc. Different groups have different policies though. Some groups only allow alumni to write recs, other groups allow active sisters to write recs.

So if you need recs, find as many sorority women as possible and ask if they'll write a rec for you. You may also contact your local alumnae panhellenic group.

I should add, if you are going to Big State University, your rec does NOT have to come from a sorority alumna of Big State U. If she went to Small Country College, she can still write an XYZ rec for you to go to the XYZ group at Big State U.

Some allow a collegian to write an "info only" rec, that isn't officially a rec, but would be better than nothing.
