Memorial Service at West Point.

Today, 9 March 2014, the Corridor 5 Annual Memorial Service of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. was held at the United States Military Academy (West Point) during a Chapel Service. It was attended by more than 100 Omega Brothers representing 12 chapters of Corridor 5 of the 2nd District (from New York City and Long Island to the Lower Hudson Valley). And there were some wives and children in attendance also. To my knowledge this is the first event of this type held at West Point, at least in recent memory. The Memorial Service was hosted by the local graduate chapter, Phi Nu of Peekskill, NY, in which the undergraduate Brothers organized the service. 2014 marks the 20th anniversary that there has been an ongoing undergraduate contingent of Omega Men at West Point,even though GLOs are not officially recognized on campus. Omega Men have also served on the West Point faculty and staff.

The Chapel Service was held in the Roscoe Robinson Auditorium of Thayer Hall. Gen. Robinson was an Omega Man and a West Point graduate. And March 12, Omega Psi Phi Memorial Day, was chosen in honor of the birthday of Col. Charles Young, a West Point graduate and one of the first honorary Omega Men chosen. Thus, this occasion was full of historical significance.

After the service the Brothers and their guests were treated to a repast in the West Point Officers Club.
