I will be transferring to UF this fall as a junior and am wondering what my chances are at rushing and pledging. I know they say it's hard if not impossible with sororities, but I am wondering about fraternities. Is it worth rushing?
Keep an open mind (don't just look at the biggest chapters). Also, look at the other guys rushing, and ask yourself, as a junior, can you see yourself hanging out with these guys? My guess is at some of the more mellow houses you will find a good fit.
Generally speaking, fraternities do not need to worry about pledge quotas (i.e. maximum number of pledges) or chapter totals (i.e. a maximum number of members). So it is not unusual for juniors to receive bids. However, they (the juniors) do need to fit with the chapter. And being a junior may be more of an issue with some chapters then with other chapters.
